I am just wondering if i might have been annoying some people with my RP. I generally try to use language fitting my character, but this Vendrell, who is a cleric of Gond amongst other things, from Lantan, does use ridiculously modern words.
"Affirmative" "All systems nominal" "I think i have broken my dorsal actuator" "Trigonometry!"
The point is to use ridiculously unfitting language to define him as he is. Since he is such an one man space program in motion i have seen this received well and liked. Problem is, does this break immersion to others?
If one thinks by rules, i should find medival style to convey similar cuckoo clock language, but i am certain i can not, without losing hilarity.
So, if you hate it, do tell.

It sounds like a fun concept to me. Immersion-wise, my characters would probably consider it "inventor jargon," assuming jargon is an appropriate medieval term.

Vendrell is terrible, a real drag to have around. I hate him so much, I make a point to interact with him when I see him ;D ;D

at a distance yes....
but I didn't know the character.
and entori didn't really bother to go any further then that, so knowing what I know now..
SURE it fits, but.. it was VERY odd. the first time I saw it..

I do not mind it at all. I think it helps add personality.

Thank you for you input, i take this totally unscientific (tsk tsk) sample as all systems good to go sign.
And i tend to play most my characters bordering on humorous, if am spoiling someones Dark Lord of The Netherhells play, do tell me to buzz off, i do not mind.

I've never had a problem with the dialogue your character has offered and I encourage you to pursue it. I'm sure if something bounces over the line then a respectful approach on discussing the term could be quickly had in tells, to not use it again Or some such There were terms I've thrown out before that I thought were questionable and throughout the IC interaction, I had been discussing OOCly on the side, if they thought the term was appropriate or not We've interacted a little and Vendrell's personallity and pursuits is one such that gives him the room to MAKE UP technical jargin all he wants, in my opinion, to make people's heads spin

I like it. It makes him seem exotic. Gnomes and Lantanese.. *shudders* ;D

Actually I find the jargon fun and wonderfully creative.
I feel it makes the character more believable and it, actually, helps my immersion when RPing with your character.
