Another boulder smashed against the gates, fragments of rock and mud flying through the air covering legions of stouts. Caked with mud and sweat but not a one break stance against the massive oak doors that separated the great hall and the inner wall. The hall was hollowed there was no song, no ale, no words just whimpers of young ins and buxom maidens murmurs to the little ones.
"Captain Bormine, what the status outside the inner wall?" Lord Red beard asked. Bormine one youngest and foolish of the captains, took moment to sigh an look back at the woman and children scattered about the room. Passing but a moment on his own before continuing his gaze.
"Not be looking like a young en dance out there, Mi lord. My legion holds the West and South gate nay be much better then you here North gate, not take them long to overwhelm us with sheer numbers. They without hope and eyes got no fire been too long a siege Mi lord."
Lord slumped over on a barrel of ale a moment, rubbing his grim-my beard from blood and dirt. Thinking to himself why had he sent his best the defenders to aid the elves. Blasted that pact his father's father had made. The envoy had come weeks before the siege. The horn was sounded to call the defenders home or alert the elves aid was required yet not a word. Crying baby snapped him back to present, as his only heir lay close to her mother trying to get a meal from her.
A rugged fully plated dwarf came barreling across the courtyard bloodied and riddled with arrows still moving at half speed nevertheless. The east gate had fallen and the orcs were piling through catching stouts off guard with many no more than a moments obstacle. The halls were alive again but this time with snorts and sounds of orcs ransacking and destroying anything in the path.
Lord red beard grabbed at his axe, " here with me lads tis time to open the doors of Moradin and give them a proper welcoming." The dwarves cheered and took there axes held them high. The doors splintered before them and broke like a flimsy wooden chair.both sides flooded in as if ants to a picnic. Bodies of orc and stout a like piled up as orcs began to climb over the corpses like a wall of flesh.
