Dear Sirs and Ma'ams ;
I'm sorry to bother you really, but I think this is awful important. I know that since I'm not even really a citizen of the town I hardly have much say really, but even if I'm not, Isinhold is the one place I always return to so it seems like home in a way.
With that, I'm sure you're all away that Isinhold edges a forest, the bramblewood, and you're likely also all aware of all the things in it. I mean, from wildlife to bandits, malarites, gnollies, bugbears.. geeze the list goes on and on. The funny thing about it though is that this is the one side of town with no gate, nothin' at all really, to protect the lone guard keeping watch. Three of the four ways into town have gates, and the one that doesn't is the forest. It seems awful unfair to Merton, who seems wholly dedicated to keeping the lonely watch up there with nothin' between him and anything that comes shamblin out from between the trees.
That brings me more to the point, just the other day, I was gettin' to know merton a little better. We was havin a bit of a chat when a number of undead came crawling out of the woods. It was rightly awful but Merton was incredibly brave! Unfortunately his bravery cost bentin a scroll.
This all got me to thinking that the forest is awful dangerous and that it's very odd there's nothing in place to keep that side of town better protected. Merton is there all alone, if he falls before he can give warning the town is fairly open to attack. So I'd like to suggest maybe a gate, or a tower really, as I think that'd be quite fantastic. One of those neat guardy ones with the little arrow shootin things attached to it and maybe a pot of burning oil or something! Then he could also have a little signal thing to light on fire if trouble comes out of the woods to alert the town to the danger.
I know this sort of thing would likely be troublesome to build, and a bit expensive, but really if it saves lives and saves from damages done by anythin gettin into town it seems worth it to me. I'm willing to spend my own lions on this what with it being my own idea really since it means keeping folks safe and sound more readily. So if you'd think it over and maybe get back to me I can usually be found in and about the town.
Thanks really for your time ma'ams and sirs!
