Feard son of Fahred was born of the Elk Tribe on the very evening of his own father’s death. In a battle in the mountains against Yeti or Orc; it was never certain what laid Fahred low. A mighty warrior it was said of Fahred; he had marched with the tribe to thin the ranks of Orc, Goblin and Snow Yeti that was troubling the tribe from the Spine.
Before he left Fahred looked upon his boy. Feard’s hair already white. Fahred named himed Feard for “fair and wise”. He spoke to the Shaman Gerint as he made his way to battle.
“This son I will give onto you to rear and teach in the name of Tempus. His locks are a white as the driven snow and yet he has seen no summers. I think this lad is for Tempus to mold in prayer as much as with a battle axe. Wisdom sits on his brow though he has naught but been born”.
And the years passed..
Feard grew up among the Elk in and about the Spine of the World and the Icewind Dales. While he was a large enough strapping lad; his fierceness was tempered always by Wisdom. His rage more muted and more often turned to singing the praises of Tempus. Often even a Champion of Tempus when the other lads cursed...or challenged the weak in a cowardly way.
Feard was certain to be holy and rock solid in the tennets of the faith. It hardly made him popular among his peers; however Gerint saw the differences that even Fahred noted the first day in the few hours they ever had as father and son.
The dream came unto both of them…Feard and the ancient shaman Gerint. To Cormyr was Feard’s calling. To battle the evil humanoids, and demonstrate the glory of Tempus; and so in battle learn more of Tempus and to count Feard among the high priests in times to come. This would be the Gift of Tempus to Feard and the tribe when all was revealed.
