Adventurers, Townspeople, and militia men. Recently the hin merchant, Rigrin saved the life of a peaceful visitor to Isinhold from the attentions of the assasain Wynter. He is now being held in a cell next to the very murderess he stopped from claiming another victim. He is not being held for a seperate matter, but for being noble and valant enough to come to the defense of another, saving her from a cruel and untimely end. The Council of Isinhold has yet to repeal his sentence, and now he has nearly served the length of it... a length equal to that of the woman who entered Isinhold and attempted to murder another. To help the Council see the injustice in this situation... each of you are asked to sign this petitition... and adventurers to also promise to refuse any future patronage of the Village of Isinhold should the sentence on Rigrin continue to be carried out. Let the adventuring populace make this their protest against being treated as Rigrin has been treated, let the citizens of Isinhold make this their protest against their village being turned into such a place that the goodly and noble, the heroic and honorable... need be in fear of the law for doing what is goodly and right. The next victim could be any of us, either by those such as the assasain Wynter, or of the injustice being practiced by the rulership of Isinhold.

I, here signs this petition to free the good lad and merchant Rigrin in his noble effort to save the life of a victim of an assassin's blade. A man is measured by his deeds more than his words and this brave lad has shown his metal. He is to be rewarded and honored!
Signed,
Navaren Bridmein, Paladin of Nobanion

A dark hooded man approaching in the middle of the night glances around noticing no one is watching and pens a few words before slipping away quietly.
Let free this beacon of light! We are above your petty laws and can more easily enforce the hammer of justice than your own guardsmen!
Aria Blake.
A few days later, a red robed figure approaches the petition, casts an erase cantrip at Aria's signature and writes the following over it's former location:
Aria Blake asked me to remove this signature. She would like to state that it was not hers, and that whoever thought this funny should engage in procreational activities with an ogre.

YEAH! LET MY FRIEND GO! SO SAYS REYVAN THE WIZARD!
*a slight yellowish smudge-such as that made by a smeared crumb of cheese- makes a haphazard line beneath his name.*

After being released, before leaving town for his banishment, Rigrin reads the petition and signatures, facepalming at "Aria's" and Reyvan's, then writes out his own note and posts it up next to it.
Friends,
Thank you for your support. While I still believe I am being punished unjustly, in the long run, it's not overly important. What is, is that a murderer with no respect for the law, and which the town guard has no power over, was let free with nothing more then a slap on the wrist.
Do not petition the council for my freedom, rather, petition them for a militia better armed to deal with threats like miss Wynter, allowances in the law to make it possible for adventurers to aid with those the guard isn't prepared to handle, without being branded as vigilantes, and for increased punishments for repeat offenders, so that the next time one of her attacks is stopped, she won't be released to kill again after just three days.
This is not miss Wynter's first crime within the walls of Isinhold, nor will it be her last, if action is not taken.
Thank you, Rigrin

*Written in a neat, no frills common* I fully support the desire for said laws and the protections they would provide. I can not comment on the troubles that started this, beyond saying that the woman Wynter is indeed extremely dangerous, and will almost certainly attempt to kill again. While the laws as written seem to provide no way to enforce harsher punishments should she transgress in such an extreme matter again, hopefully this can be changed to discourage future acts of violence from those previously punished.
