I have noticed that when any creature/monster drops you below zero Hit Points, they continue to beat/chomps on your prone body.
This game is brutal enough with lag, transitions failing to work, critical hits, and numerous other factors beyond the players control easily dropping characters.
However, when the chance to stabilize is taken away from the players chances, it increases the brutality.
On another server I played, they implemented an OnDeath Script that cast a powerful Sanctuary on the downed character for one round duration. The effect was that the creatures stopped attacking the downed characters, and they were allowed to have a chance to stabilize and recover naturally.
I understands that creatures and monsters would simply "Eat" the character after dropping it, however in reality, that would take away the characters chances to be ressurected or raised anyways.
Humanoids on the other hand would be more prone to stop hitting you once you were down, and would loot your body, not continue to bash you into oblivion.
This OnDeath suggestion would replicate both of these fairly accurately.
Of course, you could have an additional OnDeath script implemented that takes 10% of your gold whenever dropped to below 0 Hit Points (To represent the looting of your corpse by Humanoids), but no experience until you need to be respawned.
Just some ideas, to a great server...

Try travelling in groups. I have noticed that this tends to help increase the odds and reduce the overall 'brutality'

Try travelling in groups. I have noticed that this tends to help increase the odds and reduce the overall 'brutality' I would love to, and do when possible. When I usually play, there are perhaps 10 characters on, usually many levels higher or lower than myself, making grouping with anyone difficult. There are a few things I will not do. One is I will not group with characters too far above or too far below me in level. (I use 4 levels difference form highest level character to lowest level character) as my personal preference) Two, I will not just group with anyone. I try to rp a reason why I would travel with someone, and if I wouldn't travel with them, I don't. Finally, I want to meet the characters I group with IC. Not log on, send tells and group up! Since players are usually scatterred about the server, AND there are usually so few on when I am, AND the level differences and personalities of those on at any given time....The chances of grouping are limted at best.

I understand and feel your pain..we're always trying to improve things hopefully we'll be able to find someway to aliviate these problems as well, but atm I'm not able to dedicate the time I'd like after working on some other issues. Stick with us, and hopefully you'll find some travel companions in the mean time.

You don't have to worry, I will stick with you. The server is awesome. But No server is absolutely perfect, and this was a little suggestion I thought you all might like to evaluate, to get it even closer to perfection.
