lol this was my first time watching...and I got to tell you. First, I'm just ashamed that this year's idol got more votes then any U.S. presidential election...just sad lol....but when they announced Taylor Hicks as the winner, then cutting into the crowd and see David Hasselhoff shed a tear! God that was the funniest damn thing I've seen for awhile.

I don't watch regularly but I watched tonight.
I LOVED the Clay Aiken fanboy. He freaked when Clay Aiken came out. He was trying to keep singing along with Clay Aiken but they turned off his mic.
I also loved when Ryan Seacrest said "That does it for the guest appearances, now on to announce who will be the next American Idol" and the two women started dancing and the screen opened and Prince walked out and performed. He brought his own backup dancers/singers instead of having an accompaniment by the American Idol contestants. I was enjoying watching his backup dancers. Prince always had the hottest dancers.
This was the fifth season. I didn't watch most of it but I think my family watched 70% or so. They would have watched it all but for the first half of the season they didn't know it came on two nights a week.
Damn, they all could sing. Incredible performances all-round on that show.

Kind of hard to compare the presidential election to the American idol vote considering if everyone eligible voted for both, the American idol total would always be higher. Keep in mind ANYONE can vote for American idol and I believe you can do so more than once. US elections are 21 and over US citizens and registered voters and only get one shot. Plus how many still think registering to vote puts you on the jury duty summons lists so they don't ever register! Alright I know you know all that Ursurp, but I like going against the grain and giving you a hard time! LOL

US elections are 21 and over... Someone needs to go back to high school civics class. *coughs 18* He is just old racestark ... give him a break. And dont you have to pay to vote on american idol, at least the cost of a text message or something? When real life voting is free (well maybe the gas mileage to drive to the polls). AHAH!!! I have it! We make elections of public officials based off of text messaging. Course that would mean i would need to get a cell phone, nevermind all the inherent problems with that. Also, I think there at one time was a push by a prospective presidential candidate that was going to back a "if you're younger than 18 then you get 1/2 - 2/3 vote" which would be cool, except all the kids would be voting the way their parents told them to, but at least it would get them involved in the process. So wasnt this thread about politics? Back on topic! American idol, like most shows on tv, is just a big conspiracy. And anyone who watches it is part of a secret society! That's right, you are all apart of the Lou Malnati's!

Someone needs to go back to high school civics class. Drinking....Voting....Samething really.....right? Got it reversed which I tend to do from time to time... always amazes me that while a person is considered old enough to make such a powerful decision, vote or serve our country in the armed forces (age 18) they are not considered wise enough to handle the responsibility that comes with buying/drinking beer (age 21).

I read somewhere that the age limit was lowered for a bit at one point and that right away teenage pregnancy shot up....i think that the limit should be 19 as well as the draft age 19...asking a kid not even removed one year from high school is a joke and a friggin sorry one at that....one thing i like about some countries is that they make it mandatory for a youth to spend time in their military. I am a Air Force man, or was, and think that it would benefit everyone to be in for a bit. Anyhow, what about William Hung moment? That was priceless, and the guy went on to have his own movie, two records, and a true American Idol...

Perhaps the simple fact that the American Idol election isnt fixed has something to do with it's scary popularity. Also, it is a superior form of election as it is based around the oldest principal of democracy... and one of the first to be abandoned by our government; majority rules. The presidential election likes to confuse things with the electoral system which robs us of our right as a democracy and makes it far easier to fix unnoticed. I guess its a good thing for "our" government that people are far more interested in American Idol than freedom.

You can drive a weapon at age of 15 in some states, and by weapon i mean car but you cant watch a horror movie. That blows me away too.
