Recently i've been thinking of throwing a concert of local bands that are more used to the peace, and love scean. Yeah a miny Woodstock, it would be nice to get more support but i'm a 17 year old kid money almost never flies my way, anyway I figure it will bring back the old days for some of the folks in my town to show that some of the teenage crowd is not only interested in supporting metal bands, headbanging, and moshing. I lack the money to do so but i'm trying to talk a lot of people to save more money then they normaly do so we can dish it out into this local mini-woodstock heck if word gets out far enough it may grow bigger then I would ever imagen, still I have my doubts...after the last attept at woodstock at 99 it just turned into a drunken fight and mosh...such disrespectful and uncool violance...and at a most special of times to....anyway, tell me what you think of the idea. ;D Give me a "F"! Give me a "U"! Give me a "C"! Give me a "K"! Whats that spell! Whats that spell! whats that spell! ;D

well...how close are you to Austin? That might make it easier...try to find the local underground music scene coalitions and/or radio stations, or if you must (although I don't like it much lol ) can use MySpace to advertise it. or if your really daring...if you build it...they will come

A better way to go about it may be to try to make it a charity event. Find a good cause for the money to go to and some bands could be willing to play for free. Ask for volunteers to help run it (ticket takers and such) and you'll probably be surprised at the amount of help you'll get.
Heck, as an addition you could even have it that if people donate a certain amount (like 100 or so) then they can meet the band members face to face.
Just a suggestion.

I figure Myspace might help but I should be sure on how to attract the right bands and crowd. It would be a shame to show the older people who actualy went to woodstock to see this is all their youths have boiled down to is drunken fighting yeah a giant puff of smoke, love, laughter, joy, peace. I could try and locate some bands that can do some tribute stuff as well as some newer music with the same beat. it shall be a joining of Neo-Hipies ;D a new generation, fly your freak flags! My mother would say from time to time "How I miss the hipies, it was so much fun at that time, violance was soo un-cool and love was all around, not sure about your father though; from going to Greatful Dead concerts to now being a short temperd suit only god knows what he will make of it..." I had an idea of having the student council of my school support it but they are well, to... I dont want to kick the fun off with "NO *Mind expanders*! NO BAD WORDS!" freedome is a goal to ;D Feel free! see all the people!

well sadly enough there is only going to be one Woodstock, one Montery Pop Festival, etc...but I'd say your on the right track, make it yours though and keep at it. It might take awhile to pull it off, but think of how good it'll feel when you do it. Just think [glow=red,2,300]BIG[/glow] and you might be suprised about what happens.

Niether of my parents went to woodstock, My mom at one point found her self going "1 2 3 4 we dont want your F------g war!" next she found her self as an M.P. stationed in texas, my dad, not sure what he was up to at the time. All I know is he had longer hair then me, was always going to greatful dead concerts.
I just want to give my parents and other people who had lived in that era, went to it, saw it to have a chance to see it a second time. I'm just afriad it will end up like in 1999's Woodstock...somthing in the back of mind scream "Metal heads, moshers, trouble makers, hipie bashers will show up!" but I try and think of ways to keep the crowd mellow and to prevent such violant outbursts...time for peace, not moshes.

For someone that's looking to set up a concert in the spirit of freedom and peace, I find it really interesting you'd include "metal heads" in that list. Categorizing an entire group of people who listen to a certain kind of music in a list of people you don't want to show up because of supposedly violent tendencies isn't a good attitude. I was involved in music and concert organization previously, and I think you've got to approach this in a very unassuming attitude, or not at all. As a side-note to that, I've found that real metalheads the most co-operative when it comes to concerts and just enjoying and appreciating music and talent.

Instead of just being a negative nelly, I thought I'd throw my experience in to help, too. ShadowCatJen's suggestions are probably your best options. If you don't have serious capital, then charity is the only way to go. Find a cause (I suggest children's hospitals, at least to start, as they are almost always in desperate need of any kind of support) and gather the volunteers and bands.
You're -still- going to need money for a few things. First and foremost are the permits and registration needed to put on a show legally. If you don't have that official junk, you're going to have trouble getting an actual fully-willing charity of repute. This kind of thing varies from state to state (or province to province in Canada), but is fairly easy to find and get your hands on if you're serious about it.
Not only that, but you're going to need money for some kind of staging, and probably pay for the privilege of doing the concert somewhere. If you're doing an outdoor thing like Woodstock, you'll have to get either permission from the private owner of some land, or an official nod from your municipal government. Then there's money for renting/leasing/buying audio equipment. Most bands just don't have the equipment necessary for a large scale concert. Again, easy to do, but it'll cost.
However. The fact that you're doing this for charity means that you can secure sponsors far easier than just some guy throwing a concert for cash or anything else. Local businesses to any coporate offices for larger brands are all good folks to talk to for sponsorship in getting some cash just to have their name associated with a charity concert.
It's all doable.

Ya you have a point, i'm just a little antsy is all, it's a big thing. I just hear how violant things get and i'm also warried about the damage to property. By all means if people are peacful and into love sure have a good time but what should I do if people start up trouble, I cant just be to anti-freedom and say get out. Mabey a strike system, Hypie bashers are a real problem, beating up the Neo-hipies and they know for sure that many dont fight back so they egg them on.

Look at all the Deadhead! ;D My dad lies, I am sure I remeber him almost crying when he heard Jerry died back in '95 "As the greatest music artist are forgotten slipping into the shadows of the modern artist of rap struggles and war, of heavy-metal moshers, an of emo revolutions their names are forgotten. A generation once bathing in the warm exuberant and buoyant rays of social change passes on and grows old they to watch their beloved artist of music once demanding of that change go as well. When one of these artists die, a generation weeps for their passing. As do their children who were exposed to that culture and love the music to."
Zacharia Caple (Ziggy)I think I found sombody to help move this whole thing, i'm still VERY short on money but at least things finally have a light at the end of this tunnle. People that tride to do it in brimfeild but it failed so they want to help me to ;D
