Dude! I remember those characters but I never knew the name of the show. (Mainly I remember Dungeon Master and the unicorn.)
Cavalier and acrobat...? Paladin and bard? Fighter and bard?
Now I want to see that show.

To quote a friend of mine: What's up with the scantily clad barbarian rogue with the adjustable pole?

Wow, I sure remember the cartoon! After watching it again though, it sure seemed more exciting when I was a kid What's the deal with the acrobat character class? That was from the Unearthed Arcana, i think. . .

How could you not know what a smurf is? They probably just asked to make you feel old. Our culture has such a retro fetish that anybody that goes to the mall could have a decent smattering of 1980s iconography.
I go to the mall and I see Thundercats t-shirts beside of Strawberry Shortcake, Jack Skellington, and Freddy Kruegar shirts. Which reminds me that one of my memories of Thundercats isn't of the actual show, it is of walking through the mall when I was little thinking about the show. There was a cop that had a gun that shot soap and I was thinking about that.

they asked me what a smurf was...sigh...man, i am getting old. Did you tell them that smurfs are proof that inbreeding does in fact cause physical deformity, such as turning blue. And it also proves that homosexuality can be more than just a choice when the entire society lacks the number of female to male ratio.

the thing that wierded me out about Thundercats was that they didnt have tails. I mean they looked just like cat people but no tails, it always seemed wierd to me.
and I saw a sign at a gas station about 2 years back on the marquee that said "What color does a Smurf turn if you choke it?"
I thought it was a pretty good question.
and yea I want one of those ranger bows too.

trust me, they had no idea what a smurf was for the most of them. if it did not deal with myspace or a blog, it was ancient art as far as they were concerned. at 15, they are in a diffrent world. It cracks me up to see them talk about things that are just remakes or such like. Rember the Thundercats episode were the head guy had to run a race vs all the other Thundercats to become the head honcho? Or when Gi Joe was the coolest thing? And knowing was half the battle? Snake-eyes, coolest ninja on the block. Man, i miss those old shows. Now you have Kim Possible with Rufus the naked moll rat, or Billy and Mandy. The other show we watch is the Teen Titans. Love Beast Boy.(another remake)

Stormshadow is much cooler than Snake Eyes ever was.

did you not read the comics?!? Snake-eyes and Stormshadow were trained together, Zartan was in there as well, and Snake-eyes always thought Stormshadow had killed their teacher. A bad ass American from Vietnam who had been burned to a toasty crisp and could not speak going after a ninja on a mission of vengance? Plus there was that wolf that hung out with Snake-eyes, the cool all in black thing...and you now Scarlet was hot for him, regardless of Duke and all that. Wow. I was a geeky kid who read way too much into his comics. Anyone rember the Forgotten Realms comics? Or when Northstar from Alpha Flight came out with hiv and gay? Hmmmm, was he not from, Canada?

Dude, I read G.I. Joe comics. I have the ones where they were in that war in the Middle East that was not Operation Desert Storm. The one where they introduced THE S.A.W. Viper that killed all those joes. Quick Kick died. He was my first G.I. Joe. In one comic, thirteen Joes died. Dusty died. Dusty. Sneak Peak carried his body back. I couldn't believe they killed off Dusty.
The G.I. Joe ninja team was all that though. Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Jinx (who trained under the blind master), and Scarlett. I never had an action figure for Scarlett, but I would have liked one very much.
My favourite Joes were the ninja team and Falcon. Behind him was Law (and his dog Order), Spirit and his bird, Duke, and Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider didn't get a lot of coverage, but then he was the pilot of the Phantom X-19 stealth plane, so he was supposed to be under the radar.
Among the bad guys, I liked Destro, the Baroness, Major Bludd, Tomax and Xamot, the B.A.T. androids, the Nightcrawlers (an evil ninja mercenary organization), and the vipers. My favourite vipers were Alley Viper and Night Viper. Alley Viper was equipped for urban combat and Night Viper was conditioned to see in the dark even without night goggles but he could be blinded by a flashlight. I always wanted some of the old-school plain Vipers but they were impossible to find. I had a hooded Cobra Commander that I ordered through the mail. I liked him better than the battle-armour Cobra Commander I had, but my hooded Cobra Commander got ran over by the lawn mower. I never had the Major Bludd, Tomax and Xamot, or Baroness but I had the Destro with the gold head and red cape, which was after Hasbro began releasing forces for Destro's private army. Never had any Dreaknoks, but they were cool too.
My cousin's favourite Joe was Dial-tone. He was really little and named his dog that. The dog far out-lived his fascination with G.I. Joe so then he had a dog named Dial-tone. Imagine, if you will, a dog named Dial-tone.

Never read Alpha Flight or FR comics.
I knew Northstar was gay but not that he had HIV.
I read Guardians of the Galaxy and New Warriors at the same time. They both contained the same character but where set 1000 years apart.
I liked Spider-man 2099 and Ravage 2099 but the 2099 continuity didn't stick around long.
I liked the Infinity War/Infinity Crusade. I missed the Infinity Gauntlet, which was the first part.

i do rember that. remember the one where the first joe died? it was doc. the medic. he was like my favorite then they came with Lifeline, another cool guy. can you tell i liked the medics? which is also what i do in Real LIfe and in the military. hated Lifeline till the comic where he went toe to toe with the big russkie from the Oktober Guard and whipped up on him. Hated Sgt Slaughter...and then when i got in the Military, hated him even more. damm T.I.s Spirit was pretty awesome and i still have scarlett around here somewhere, my son plays with them now.Always thought it was funny how stacked all the joe chicks were, kinda like FRC, never any normal chicks.

Anything after Sgt. Slaughter was just Hasbro getting it's ugly little claws into things and demanding that stories concern whatever the latest toy was going to be. After Larry Hama left and stopped doing the writing for the comic it was just all downhill from there. The war storylines did bring some of the old magic back, but too much damage was already done by then. And... Falcon? Falcon?! He was just Flint with different colors and a scarf! Still have to say my most favorite line has to be when Snake-eyes, Scarlett, Flint, and Lady Jaye were on leave and Snakes and Scarlett (along with the Blind Master) apparently got blown up by a land mine. Later while giving report Flint, in frustration, just growls out, "Ninjas do not just step on land mines!" Had me in stitches. .... *shifty eyes* ..... *realizes her geekdom is showing* ... oh my... heh.... I have most of the comics, you know. ;D

Spidey was always the sh*t! hands down my favorite hero of all time. Best one liners and i so cannot wait for the third movie. And x-men is coming out. Wow, this will be a good summer. My fav comics though now that i think about it were Conan and the big black and white Conan's called Savage sword of Conan i think...hafta go look in the attic. Anybody else remember those? It was because of those comics that Set is still one of the major baddies in our gaming along with old Thoth-Amon. Anybody ever watch the Robotech series with Rick, Lin-may, and the other chick? Man, like a soap opera it was for kids! Loved it.
