I was wondering if, in the vast world of DnD and Forgotten Realms, if there are any animal-headed creatures? I'm not talking things like Minotaurs, Raksasha, or Marruspawn that are in essence that, but something that is really a human body with an animal's head stuck on top. Kinda like the Ancient Egyptian gods.
I'm trying to help a new fledgling LARP (spun off from one of the creaters of my old one) and was kind of hoping that someone somewhere would know where I could find stats so I can get some ideas for this.
Thanks guys.

Most of the egyptian Pantheon is in FR. I don't have my books with me so I can't remember what country it is, but i know it's far to the east...think it was the Mulhandri empire.

Well, the Mulhorandi Empire. But yea, they have pretty much the egyptian pantheon (including Sharress as Bast, and a few other gods that are commonly worshipped). There are Saurials... but err, they are more like lizard-men than anything else. There's the Aarakokra (sp), they're kind of like bird-men... Hmm... In "Races of the Wild," there are cat people, but I believe you already know about cat people I can't think of any off the top of my head. I'll post later after taking a quick look through my books.

Mulhorand, Unther and Chessenta relies mostly on the egyptian(ish) Pantheon and therefor have a variety of Animal headed and otherwise human features creatures . Alligator , Cheetah , hawk/falcon comes to mind first of Be Good B.

I already know about pantheons. I was wondering if an actual RACE was ever done - whether it be variable animal types or just one.

Lycanthropes... Aarakocra (bird people though they have talons and stuff)... Hadozee(Monkey people)... but I can't find anything with ONLY an animal head and human body... these are the closest I could find.

S'all right. Thanks. At least it's something to work with. Trying to get some animal race other than insectoid (yeah... Insectoids may possibly be running 'round this nice little world) and the whole animal-head thing sounded like an interesting idea. Hmm... Guess it's time to get the ol' oil burning in the brain. ;D

I know it is a little late for the topic, but in the resource book Sandstorm, there are a race of Jackal-headed creatures, called the Marruspawn... Don't know if they are used in FR, but I think they can be easily integrated to any campaign. Especially in Mulhorand, as they have many Egyptian gods around already. I have used them myself a lot... Try check it out.
