I've been wondering what's the common consensus on this ? Do they age randomly, do they age like humans or elves, maybe inbetween or inbetween but leaning to human or to elf ?
What's the halfelf age of a 120 year elf/18 year human ?

I always understood it that half elves aged much the same as humans (maybe a little more gracefully?) and simply lived a little bit longer...but I'm pretty ignorant on this sort of thing so it might be wise to not take anything i say as fact...

Half-elves reach maturity about the same time as humans but live twice as long, which is about half as long as an elf.
For some reason on NWN people seem to act like elves live about twice as long as they should though. By my understanding 400 is an old elf.

from what I've read however, in the FR novels, elves are stated to usually live about a 1000 years, I think one of the main characters in the last mythal series, was about 800 and he was elderly but not old probably around 40-50 . the queen of evermeet is 1000 + or more LOL. I'm not saying this is right, but I'm pretty sure the novels are meant to give an proper portrayal, but thats my 2 cents.
thanks ENt

400 is towards the end for an elf that lacks some magical means of prolonging his life. All elves in the Forgotten Realms setting reach adulthood at the age of 110, according to Player's Guide to Faerun, plus 4d6 to 10d6 years, depending on their class. Non-Sun elves reach middle age at at 175, old at 263, and reach venerable age at 350, with maximum lifespan being that +4d% years. Sun elves live longer, with middle age being 210, old being 315, and venerable being 420, maximum age being 6d%
PS, on this topic, anyone have any clue how the half dragon templateeffects aging? All I know from that is that in Races of the Dragon, it says that an elf half dragon can compete with a true dragon for longevity, but that's rather vague.

If I get what you say right Munroe it's basically what the page say too (that page is a pearl to many wisdoms btw). As for elves, IIRC drow are the longest living race of elves, unless they get murdered, assasinated, killed or something like it, and can live to about 700 years. As specifically for the Queen of Evermeet, she's an exception to the rule. The novels migh not say that but I know I read it in an old 2nd edition book (I believe it was in "Elves of Evermeet").

320 + 4d% years, if I read the entry on how to use "d%" readings, would mean an absolute maximum for non sunelves, as of 3.5, is 750, and since if the queen of Evermeet is a sun elf, 1020 is attainable, not to mention that she likely has spells and mystical protections that allow her to continue on quite nicely.

From the Players Handbook (3.0) on page 17:
"The life of a half-elf can be hard. If raised by elves, the half-elf grows with astounding speed, reaching maturity within two decades. The half-elf becomes an adult long before she has had time to learn the intricacies of elven art and culture, or even grammar. She leaves behind her childhood friends, becoming physically an adult but culturally still a child by elven standards. Typically, she leaves her elven home, which is no longer familiar, and finds her way among humans. If, on the other hand, she is raised by humans, the half-elf finds herself different from her peers: more aloof, more sensitive, less ambitious, and slower to mature. Some half-elves try to fit in among humans, while others find their identities in their difference. Most find places for themselves in human lands, but some feel like outsiders all their lives."
I know the question was already answered, but this little bit above may help some with playing a half-elf.
