A letter sealed with the arcane symbol of an emerald green eye is delivered to the Skatterhawk estate.
"Lord Skatterhawk,
I pray this letter finds you in fine health and good spirits. Though we have not often had reason to speak, I hope you will not find my contact presumptuous nor disrespectful. I know much has occurred over the last year, to include your own heroic stand against the draconic beast Nausticyris for which I can only express my untempered respect and admiration. However if you might recall, before her tragic passing Lady Mnomene gifted me with a sword as way of making amends for incidents that occurred upon the Isle now named after her during the Reserve's expedition thereupon. Though the blade has since passed through several hands, it is my understanding that the sword was originally an heirloom belonging to your noble lineage.
If you would be so indulgent, I ask that you be gracious enough to meet with me so that I may return the blade into your rightful hands. Otherwise I humbly request your assistance in finding a suitable hero deserving of the blade. Perhaps another who stood at your side during the battle against Nausticyris, or an aspiring individual we expect to represent the barony of Valkur's Roar well during this years upcoming Shieldmeet.
Whatever your will, I will humbly see it done.
The Roar's ever loyal subject, Mistress Meesha Grimm"

Nate Skatterhawk returned to the farmhouse overlooking the Western Fields of Valkur's Roar with thoughts about the conversation fresh in his mind.
The elven woman seemed to take in every word. She looked very young to Nate but he knew that such appearances could be deceiving with elvenkind. He made a mental note that this was an astute person.
His thoughts turned to the former governess of Ash Isle. She had revealed things he had not understood before. What had they done to her that she would see Lady Mnomene so? Perhaps one day she might tell him.
With a sigh he looked at the old sword. While it had a history all its own it no longer resembled the family heirloom. After being carried by the lady it reflected Mnomene more than Skatterhawk now.
Restoring the sword to its customary place above the hearth, Master Nate Skatterhawk looked out of the window and watched the sunset over the fields in his care.
