How does blind fighting work? Is it a combination of finely tuned senses such as smell and sounds instead of eyes? If so is it possible for a character with the ability to blind fight to recognize scents that others might not detect?

Blind = eyes. Means you fight well blinded. It's not called Scentfighting.  |

Blind fighting is more of a "feel" kind of fighting. When you're blinded because of darkness, sand in your eyes, what have you, you have to use hearing and touch to figure out where your opponent is. Basically when you're blind fighitng, you're listening for clues as to what your opponent is doing, and "feeling" where he's coming from, especially in close combat. The only thing you'd smell while blind fighitng is blood and sweat (maybe one or two other things if you happen to scare someone bad enough while fighting  ). And that can overwhelm your nose. Not to mention, any good fighter does a special type of breathing to help keep themeselves from getting stitches in their side and to keep them from wearing out for as long as possible (think of a track runner's special breathing techniques), which doesn't allow much for the nose to pick up anything other than what's stated above. |

Also note that just because you can pinpoint your opponent's location better while blinded (or against a concealed enemy), that does not mean you get any benefits to your other senses for any purposes other than fighting a concealed enemy. If you want better hearing, put points into Listen.

If one wanted to make a blind melee combatant of some sort, would it be acceptable to do so if ine has blindfighting?
And some sort of story/explanation for why the PC can fight while blind of course (Ki sense or somesuch)
