Just curious about this... I've seen people in town speaking in exotic languages such as Infernal, Draconic, etc... after searching through the stickied posts and ingame documentation, I still can't find how they learned them, only how to speak a character's native tounge. Is this something that can only be done with DM help, or is there some option somewhere that I missed?

ask for it on the dm channel - if there's a dm in game with a couple moments to spare - you'll get the hook up.

Thanks, I was able to get them... one more related question, do you guys support use of the Learn Languages skill (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/speakLanguage.htm)? Like, leaving a skill point (or two, in the case of it being a cross-class skill) unspent on a level up, and then redeeming it with a DM for an additional language?

No, any additional languages (beyond starting automatic and bonus languages) need to be learned in-character through roleplay. (This can take a very long time.)

We also take into account your natural INT modifier - so if you maxed out on your languages when you got them, you'd have to put another point or two into your Intelligence to 'open the slot' for the new language.
i.e. - elf from cormyr with an int of 12 gains elven and chondathon as bonus languages plus one additional language per the Int modifier. In order to learn an additional language this elf would have to raise his/her natural inteligence to 14, 'then' find someone who speaks and is willing to teach the language to him/her. This roleplay process, as Munroe stated, can take quite some time.

Er, just for extra clarification for my sake...
Are regional languages actually supported? (i.e. Chondathan) For all this time, I've been roleplaying a character who knows Illuskan because it was his parents' tongue.
Or are these just the racial languages like Elven, Dwarven, Abyssal, Celestial, etc.?

We have widgets for some regional languages but not all.
We do have widgets for both Chondathan and Illuskan.
I have bumped a couple threads involving language tokens.

Thanks for bumping those posts, and that certainly is very cool that even some of those Human languages can be spoken. (It's just nice to know that Humans can also speak their own tongue that would make Elves or Dwarves scratch their heads and say "huh" for a change.) But this does beg the question... I recall that at the beginning, you're asked to state your region of origin, and a lot of these regions have automatic languages just like Elves have Elven as an automatic language... Why not just have the dialog also hand you the appropriate regional tokens...?

You will notice that the module has not been updated in some time, and may not be for a while. Please post this under the ideas and suggestions next time as opposed to under the DM questions and answers.
