(( This letter is sent to the Greatgaunt Council
Lord Marister Zorastryl,
This letter should be kept in confidence to not stir fear, lest Frubo becomes inspired with another doom song.
Dear friend, I write to you in hopes that a proposition could be granted to me in further preparedness and benefit of the Greatgaunt defenses. As you know Valkurs Roar has had it's issues with Dragons and Bentin has opened up my eyes with some thoughts as I prayed to Oghma for guidance.
I have come to the realization, by the Binder's wisdom that Greatgaunt is more than just a small town with a deep history. It's also a hub for many adventurers. Adventurers bring danger... however..
Adventurers bring coin. Greatgaunt is Valkurs Roar neighbor and we do not wish to neglect our friends.
With your approval I would like to work with you , the Council of Greatgaunt, and it's people in constructing defense for Dragon attacks. We are having an engineer look over Valkurs Roar defenses when it comes to Dragons. When I spoke to Bentin, he has some concern with our situation and he is right to do so. No more Greatgaunt.. no more pies and Sam's Special stew for Bentin.
There are a few areas I'd like to propose where we can have a ballista posted in Greatgaunt incase there are Dragon issues. This Ballista would be crafted to thwart enemies of the skies.
You may be concerned in how to fund this?
I am a priestess with many contacts and some influence to bolster funds.
I believe Adventurers are charitable and willing to put forth funds to help defend Greatgaunt and bring comfort to the town they loiter in.
What say you , My Lord?
~ Runa Rothgar
Priestess of Oghma, Commissioner and Captain of the Reserve Guard, VR Cormyr
.. and long time friend of Greatgaunt and it's people.
P.S. I will be giving the Innkeeper 500 gp for a joyous stipend to Bentin and his guards. I owe Bentin a bowl of Sam's special stew and would like to gift this to the guards. They spend it on whatever flavor delights their tongue. And posssibly some of those delicious apples... good for the mind.
