Tyr's Knights of hte Merciful Sword

My friend and I jsut made Paladins of Tyr and planned on playing as members of hte kNights of the Merciful Sword. After we made the characters I did some research and it appers that being a member is more involved than I first thought. i just want to know if I should sek DM approval to play as a Knight of hte Merciful Sword, and if so what are the requirments/roleplay guidleines as a member.

Apparently the Merciful sword is directly involved with the the city of Arabel
