Hello everyone,
As someone who plays divine characters a lot, and enjoys pen and paper D&D, I thought I would share something that some may not know about.
When the Faiths & Pantheons 3.0 book was released there was a web enhancement that went along with it that (imho) should be considered as canon for our purposes here. Along with the favored weapons of deities they are also represented in other ways as well. Here is the link for the pdf web enhancement if you wish to look: frpworld.com/downloads/ruleandaccs/Faiths%20and%20Pantheons%20-%20Web%20Enhancement.pdf
EDIT: If this doesn't work just do a Google search for "Faiths and Pantheons Dos and Donts".
One of the primary sections I want to highlight is this:
Colors
"Even more subtle than the discovery or transformation of gems and precious metals, the colors of a deity remain the most common minor manifestation. If forced to choose between a red horse and a black one of equal quality, a cleric of the Red Knight should choose the red horse. A solitary ranger of Silvanus trying to decide which of two trees to climb in order to hide from a gang of orcs might find the colors of one momentarily fade and the other’s colors become shades of brilliant green. These colors also indicate the most common shades used in raiment by people of the faith, particularly divine spellcasters."
So for example if you are playing a follower of Tempus you may have a brown cloak, and purple armor accented blood red to simulate blood stains from war. A follower of Corellon Larethian could be wearing a blue cloak with silver armor, and find a silver longsword with a blue leather hilt.
These are things that can help you immerse yourself into your character, and into Forgotten Realms D&D, as a whole. While I understand some may view this as "just a video game", and would like to do what they want, there are others who want that true D&D experience and everything it has to offer.
This PDF doesn't mention the favored weapons, but using the page Forgotten Realms Helps can provide you information on your deity if you need it. I highly recommend it, and you can find that here: www.realmshelps.net/deities/index.shtml
I hope this is of some help to you, and look forward to seeing you immerse in game.
