Hello,
I have a fighter and I am trying to specialize in the two handed hammer called a "Maul". When I look at the available list, it is not on the options. Does it come under great axe, or something similar?
I asked one of the DMs but he was not sure.

Unfortunatley, mauls and other CEP weapons lack weapon feats.
A warhammer or a dire mace would be the closest things to a maul, I guess.

Weapons that have an asterisk beside their base weapon type in their description are CEP (Community Expansion Pack) weapon types. Maul* is one of these. CEP weapon types don't have feats in the base NWN game as they are added weapon types from a mod (CEP). FRC has not added feats for weapons that have been added via CEP.
A feat for a warhammer or dire mace (a two-headed weapon, so quite different) is not going to benefit you using a maul.

Three options:
Go small race and use a normally one handed weapon as a two handed weapon: ex a war hammer becomes a maul in the hands of a hin or gnome
Go cleric because they make any weapon ab go up with spells
Go rogue because *sneak attacks goblin with a fish*
