There is a situation that I've had repeatedly, 100% of the time that I've been in circumstances where it even could apply. The issue is when there are players who are not part of a PVP between mine and other characters, and I'm using stealth to try to defeat a significantly stronger melee opponent, it isn't everyone who does it, but some number of players start complaining to me and/or a DM that they're getting bored watching the battle. They send tells to me and/or a DM saying, "I'm bored," and "Could you hurry this up?" and the like. There is so much I could write about this one, that I could publish a book, but I'll boil it down to this. If you are bored watching any sort of interaction between other PC's, not just a stealth battle, but also a bard performance, or a detailed role play healing session, or a conversation on a topic you're not interested in, or anything else, please kindly go find something else to do without disrupting things for other people with OOC complaints, neither to a player nor to a DM. If you are a DM, and a player makes this complaint to you, I would ask you to kindly ask them to go find something else to do without disrupting other people's role play, and not entertain the complaint by asking players not to use their class skills anymore, at the very least not without consultation and consent from all players actually involved in the role play or conflict.
As a player of stealth characters, I honestly feel this is a pretty basic, bare bones, bottom line matter. People's characters are their characters. People deserve the space to play their character as is, within server rules. People who don't find any sort of role play enjoyable to be part of or to watch can manage things on their own side by finding something else to be part of. Stealthers don't need to approach combat as if they're just a weapon master who has a hard time fighting. Bards sing. Wizards cast. Clerics turn undead. Weapon masters hit things with weapons. And you might not see a stealther all the time and might not see what they're doing. It's part of the game. Let's give people space to play their characters.
