Urbuchek, Son of Kalchek,
Baron of the Stonelands
I have been given permission to address the Council of Cloudstone with a proposal but before I submit my work to the Council I wish to ensure it is your will. If this concept does not meet with your approval I shall cease work immediately or direct the project as you wish.
One abundant resource the Stonelands possesses is electrical storms. I have discovered a way to harness these storms as a way to benefit your people. There is a magical plant-beast that is capable of growing bounteous fruits without need of soil or water, only electricity and the flesh of your foes. They are generally known as “Shambling Mounds” and could offer a wonderful step towards agriculture for your people.
If we set up electrical rods and batteries the creatures could be maintained and contained within an area (possibly a cave). Any source of unwanted or inedible meat could be used to stimulate their growth and be harvested as you wish. These creatures are not easy to defeat which normally would be a downside, but for your people this could pose as an advantage. Making a transition into agriculture could be a difficult business but you could create a new breed of warrior-farmers who battle with these creatures and harvest the fruit as a symbol of glory. That fruit could feed your people or even be turned into wine or other spirits if you wish to distill it.
In addition, it would act as a draw for adventurers wishing to prove their abilities. Many would travel to the Stonelands and spend their gold in your city and if you wish even return the fruit for a reward. I have spoken with a group of Druids known as “The Guardians” and they believe there is great merit to my proposal although they wish to continue to focus their efforts on irrigation and farmland. We can also request arcanists to modify and change the plant to suit your wishes and desires.
Respectfully,
Alia Cielle
Secretary of Cloudstone
