*the following was written on A heavy vellum calfskin and delivered to the Ravens’ by a Thayen Knight on the morning after an incident in Greatgaunt occurred*
Being a man of my word, and having stated that I would not write the charges up that day, I have delivered the said charges the following day.
I, lord Valen Thanrast, Thraskir Of Thay, herby deliver the following charges, against the following individuals, involved in the incident that occurred on (insert date that corresponds to 7/26/2020)
Recounting of the circumstances.
I was in Greatgaunt to sell some things to the local merchant there. While in Greatgaunt I was approached by a First Sword of the purple dragons, who did not address me formally, who I later learned was named Silus. He said with a scrutinizing eye that I should be careful of myself while in Greatguant, and not cause trouble. Next to him stood a Hin, who I later learned was named Pollyanna. A short time later, an elven woman approached me with whom I have had a few conversions with prior. She knew that I was a Red Wizard and interested in Items from my homeland. She offered to sell me a book for which she said that the local merchant had offered her a small amount of coin. Being a generous man, and wanting to help a local, I offered her 40 gold lions from my pocket, for the book which had meaning to me of a sentimental nature, as it was an ancient book that detailed the burial rituals of Mullhurandi Nobles, of which I am one. The Hin, surly acting of a personal bias, not wanting to see me get the book, offered the elf 50 coins. An open auction ensued. Bothe the first sword and the Hin took part, and the bidding for this book passed to 12000 Golden Lions. 12000! It was madness! Now, given the nature of such an open and public transaction, I was certain the First Sword compelled by the law would step in in this case to check if the elf, was indeed selling an item in such amounts with a merchant’s license. He did not, as far as I knew he was the ranking officer of king’s authority on the matter. Having been disgusted at the loss of such a book, and such a personal slight on myself and my country worst of all, and being bound by the diplomacies of the land in which I reside, I went in To the inn to order a glass of wine. I sat by the window watching and what happened next was even more disgusting. The hin took the book, and for all to see placed it on the ground in front of the Greatguant general store. She preceded to put on a gaudy promenade, and then she cast fireball to incinerate the book. Not once. Not twice. Three times. The sand in front of the general store was melted to glass.
I wish to address the following articles against the following individuals.
Article I
The punishment also states a curse and tenday banishment, I will let the courts decide what is necessary.
*Another letter delivered to the Posts of the purple dragons along with the first reads*
Article II
This article addresses the behavior of the first sword of the purple dragons of Cormyr, Silus.
To whom it may concern:
As I am unsure of the of who First Sword Silus’ Commanding officer is, this is addressed to the Most honorable Over-swords: Deleep Zharinthan of ‘Suzail’s Honor’s’ 2nd regiment, Ayesunder Truesilverof the ‘Legion of Roknar’ 6th regiment, Dutharr of the ‘Might of Arabel’s’ 4th regiment, Manderek Ravensclaw the most honorable commander of Castle Craig, Marcus Rowmantle of the ‘Dragon Shields’’ 7th, Erith Truesilver, of the ‘Storm Horn Sentries’’ 3rd, and most especially Ayrick Greatgaunt the most honorable commander of the Fortress at Greatgaunt.
Dear esteemed gentleman,
I write you today with concern, for I observed behavior today from a first sword, and a failure to act that I consider, inexcusable. I know the Purple dragons well enough and that their first duty regardless of personal feelings is to the king of Cormyr, and its citizens of which I am not one. I know that there is no love lost between us as nations but I urge you to consider the importance of military discipline and the safety of Cormyrians, if such behavior is allowed to continue unpunished. Do not take my word for it, this was done in front of many witnesses. Your first sword should be responsible for enforcing the king’s laws, and should have checked for proper documentation and also arrested the offending wizard, but none of this was done. Instead the militia had to step in to solve matters, and now I must file a complaint with the ravens for judgement of the above grievances. I might humbly suggest that you demote this man to blade, as he is a knight and afforded some courtesy, I do not believe any further punishment necessary.
Regards,
Lord Valen Thanrast, THraskir of Thay.

I wish to address the following articles against the following individuals.
Article I
Against the Registered adventurer Pollyanna
Section A
Blasphemy against a Lord
I understand, that in general, this rule applies to Cormyrian Lords, but I would ask that any lord be given a measure of respect while in your lands. I can abide by some personal slight but to have a sacred book burned in front of my eyes while I am forced to do nothing by the laws of Cormyr, is definitely a punishable offense. Let alone to watch a Purple Dragon first sword stand there and laugh at me while all this is going on...most irregular and but I will get to that later. For this I request a fine be paid to the Cormyrian King of 1000 Lions and that no additional imprisonment be imposed. Section B
Vandalism, with malice of forethought
I charge that The Hin Pollyanna, of purposefully and willfully destroying a book sacred to the peoples of Thay, for no other reason then personal disagreements with and prejudice against the order of the Red Wizards of Thay. I can confirm that before today, I did not know this hin, and had no prior interactions with her. I seek the maximum punishment for this offense. 10000 Lions minus of course any damages paid to the general store owner, and 5 days imprisonment. Given the malicious intent of this act, I also request that this be given to the Thayan Enclave at Proscour and to the Kazark therein, in order to properly remunerate the government of Thay and as by way of apology for the acts committed. Section C
Arson with Malice of forethought.
For obvious reasons, the casting of fire based magical spells within town limits is unnecessary and dangerous. Though no one was killed today, I am unsure of the extent of the property damage. I request that the maximum allowable fines be paid to the general store owner and the kingdom of Cormyr for this offence. The punishment also states a curse and tenday banishment, I will let the courts decide what is necessary.
Section D
Threatening behavior
As stated above the casting of area affecting offensive spells in and around populated areas of Cormyerian towns, is extremely dangerous. I will let the courts decide the appropriate punishment.
Section E
Disturbing the peace
As stated above I will also seek the courts guidance on what is appropriate here. Section F
Excessive Noise.
The fireballs were of course extremely loud. Again, I will leave this to the courts. *Another letter delivered to the Posts of the purple dragons along with the first reads*
