Late last night a strange mist and odd light was observed just by the creek in the village of Great Gaunt with reports of a strange crackling noise. The mist departed not before leaving some of the vegetation distorted in both colour and shape. The grass had signs of greatly accelerated growth. Merrris was summoned and is now communing with Silvanus to see if the plants may be restored back to normal

Deeply intrigued, Theravien would try to learn more and would talk to Merris, as for insight, as for making clear he could count on him if needed.

Hearing about this, Aella becomes curious and heads to Merris for more about what has happened. As well as hoping for a moment to theorise possibilities.

The reclusive druid Tal Koschevar has also been seen around town enquiring, in his brusque and odd manner, what Merris has found so far about this and about the spikes around the north path into the Bramble.

During the day Merris at last springs into action calling upon by fire and air. Through a complicated ritual the strange plant was burnt away to ash while a summoned air elemental absorbed into itself all of the smoke soot and ash produced by the conflagration. The unfortunate elemental was last seen being directed into a small grey metal box while a grim-faced troubled Merris returned to Silvanus’s shrine.

Aella had tried to speak with Merris about what had been troubling him. But was met with silence after she witnessed tbe ritual. Merris coughs, "My sincerest apologies my dear. I have been in meditative communion with Silvanus on the matter of the strange corruption. What ever agent afflicted the grass proved to be communicable. Anything consuming the plant could possibly be subjected to a certain taint if you will. Not as virulent as what affected the plants but might be subjected to possible mutations. I deemed the extreme measure of burning the plant to ash and sealing any residue in a container as prudent."

Merris looking tired and haggard glances upward. "Ah sorry my mind is elsewhere. This matter has proved quite worrisome. What ever altered the plant did have the possible potential to twist in ways unknown anything that might have consumed the vegetation. To this end I have destroyed the growth and sealed all remains away. I am haven't heard anything of "spikes" in the Bramble you speak of but such news bodes ill for us all"

Deeply intrigued, Theravien would try to learn more and would talk to Merris, as for insight, as for making clear he could count on him if needed. Seemingly lost in thought Merris looks upward. "Sorry do forgive me I have been devoting a great deal of effort and attention to the growth. It was a strange happening, the plant in many ways seems more alive, more vigorous more hearty than well possible. It is an effect that, in the end is malignant to the vegetation. What is worrisome was the potential for spread. Simply anything consuming the plant would risk similar malign growth occurring, abet at a lesser extent. I deemed it prudent to completely destroy the odd growth and seal away all remains."

Theravien would dip his head to him. "Find comfort in knowing you did what you had to, for the greater good. Thank you for saving Greatgaunt... And potentialy the realm..." In his eyes, Merris would notice an unspoken question, a desire for end of suffering... Knowing better, question was never asked... Blue glow would radite reassurment and hope as mute, final statement, before quickly turning and vanishing in the fork of paths ahead...

Aella softly nods her head to Merris then gives him a friendly smile. "Alright then. If you have need of assistance in anything later on or should something like this happen again, I will gladly offer my aid."

“Hear yea Hear yea A miss Lavania Whaetley of the grand hamlet of Bishop would like to publically thank the following four, Doren, Eva’laelys of house Solandra, Pero, and Wysaphra for their efforts in unraveling what happened at the Gardner residence Hear yea hear yea...”
The rest of the tale spreads that of the entire Gardeners family only the father Nahwah Gardner survives. Master Gardner is resting in the care of old granny Smithon and with Lathander’s grace may recover from his terrible ordeal. The remains of the deceased Mrs. Gardner and little Mellissa were burnt along with the entire farmstead. Miss Lavania saw to the efforts herself personally and afterwards sent word to the War Wizard Branson to investigate the happenings at the Gardner place. Ole Bob the porter was heard refused to even touch the remains swearing the bodies were such a ghastly sight and one not fit for proper folk to lay eyes upon. Subsequent investigation of the farm recovered the remains of two small boys and several animals which were mucked up from the bottom of the families well. These efforts folks say brought forth a fearsome stench and as a precaution the well has been sealed. The only family member not accounted for is Kattie Gardner age 12 who has been reported as missing and is presumed dead.

In sad news there is a report of the passing of one Nawhan Gardner of the farmlands near Bishop. Master Gardner age 42 was survived by his daughter Katie Gardner. There was no ceremony, his body cremated and Nawhan Gardner's remains have been retained by the War Wizards.
