Heya folks:
Another thread brought this up in my mind... what is the most difficult/remote "regular" settlement to get to?
We have over 15 settlements of various sizes on FRC and I was just thinking we could use a discussion regarding the various places to visit.
Cheers!

Clan Orgrann(sp?) Not easy at all nor should it be.
Funny thing is...I suspect there are others I haven't even seen.

Oghrann is probably the highest.
Least visited I would say is probably Castle Crag
Other runners up are the Elven settlement in the Hullack and High Horn.
Hardest to get to in terms of difficult (that a caravan goes to) would have to be arabel.

Arabel!?!? what are ya retarted? that is a cakewalk ya ninney! walk there From Suzail with yer eyes closed! heh
High Horn is definatly one of the most remote, by far along with the Elven settlement. High Horn can be reached without *too* much trouble if you are smart, but one wrong move and a Frosty is gonna knock your ^&$ in the dirt. It is a super super cool town even with next to nothing in it.
Castle Crag, also one that is way out there....Mean ass orcs, giants of varying degrees, and those mountain ogres and highland trolls arent too much fun either!

The mountain ogres are worse than the giants.

Maybe a list might help too......
1) Isinhold 2) Redmist 3) Shallybrook 4) Suzail 5) Marsembar 6) Immersea 7) Thunderstone 8) Arabel 9) Waymoot 10) Dedhluk 11) Eveningstar 12) Skull Crag 13) Espar 14) Tyrluk 15) Proskur 16) High Horn 17) Elven Encampment in the Hullack 18) Castle Crag 19) Clan Oghrann
Out of all those..... I think Castle Crag is the only one I haven't seen yet. The one time I tried.... I died..... Dern dwarven trader and his bets.....
Out of all of them I think Clan Oghrann would top the list.. Giants (2 legged and 6 legged), drow and even a stinky ranger have kept me from making it there one time or another.... *grumbles*. Plus... the added bonus of going with gold to shop.... *shudders* Making it there though really makes you feel like you have accomplished something pretty big.
Tink me goin fer a walk me inta da Storm Horns me is. Ya tallin's better be out of me way or me takin kneecaps.....

I'l agree with these guys...the Oghrann are probably one of the hardest to get to....followed closely by the Elven Settlement...
(Even at Epic levels....)

Probably my favorite one is Marsember. The over all feel of the place is great. It has it's seedy areas, it's upscale areas, and even though very few players go there, it has a general feel of menace. Whenever I wander that city it feels like anything could happen. Thugs could come after you. Something from the sea could attack. Intrigues between noble house...anything.

I've been to Oghraan twice. With as hard as it is to get to, it's a place don't miss at all.
Of those in that list, my favorite place to walk to is High Horn. It's currently my favorite home away from home.

Clan Oghrann is the hardest to get to...only been there twice...but for Quendros the Elven settlement in the Hullack is my favorite and is also tough to get to...

Oghrann is hard to get to and the High Horn is hard if you even step off the trail for a second. The elven settlment is now pretty diffucult. I do love marsember as Kam said...(even if it is near a stinky arse sea dat damm place*snorts*) but it aint hard to get to. Never really had problems making it to castle crag but have only gone that way once or twice. Yeah my vote for hardest would hafta be Oghrann, High Horn, Elven Settlment and the Castle Crag in that order. And yes, High Horn is awesome to look at...worth the trip just for the walkways.

Well the last three for me, Elven Encampment in the Hullack, Castle Crag or Clan Oghrann. I have never been to Clan Oghrann or the Elven encampment with any characters before. Once tp Castle Crag. Pick one...then Clan Oghrann on a coin flip. I do agree that for us "mere mortals" walking to Arabel is rather nasty. I have tried a couple of times and it did not go well. However the rumor is that the trek has been toned down a bit so maybe I will give it another try.

High Horn isn't that tough. As long as you use your head the frost giants are simple enough to deal with.
I'd say it's about as difficult as walking to the cloud city.

I like High Horn and the requirement that you have to walk to get there. Too dangerous for caravans and all that. ;-) Though I think I walked there when I was level 8 or so. According to Power of Faerun there's a PDK garrison at High Horn with something like 3,000 PDKs and it's the most defensible place in Cormyr.
I haven't been to half of those other places though because its beyond my skill to walk and beyond my purse to buy passage. I'll see them some day, maybe.

I'd have to say the dwarven settlement is the toughest to get to. I've played here for a long time and i have never been to the elven settlement. Though my character, being a halfbreed has never seen a reason to go there so i wouldnt know how hard it is. I've never had a problem with castle crag up until heimdall showed me where all the orc champions were and chased me around in circles for half an hour

I laughed for a lot longer than half an hour though. Damn that was funny!

I would have to say the Oghrann too with the settlement a close second now that the Hullack has been "improved".
High Horn, unless the road has changed since I was there last, is only tough because of the frosties on the first leg of the journey.
