I just wanted to share this with you all: D&D at its finest. My daughters came to ask me if they could play 'the game where we kill dragons and take their treasure'. They'd just been watching an episode of Teen Titans Go! where the Titans play a game of D&D and wanted to try it for themselves.
I thought this was pretty awesome - we roleplayed Carolina the fighter and Lillia the wizard on their adventure to a village beset by thieving goblins. Beatrix and Thea roleplayed their way through encounters with the village mayor and then some local ruffians that they intimidated into giving them the location of the goblins' cave. They battled the goblins and retrieved the village supplies. And there was much rejoicing.
Then, because apparently this was not awesome enough, they demanded a dragon fight. Fortunately, I have a young black dragon miniature that suddenly swooped down on the village, furious at the demise of its goblin servants. At which point, Carolina and Lillia shot, stabbed and immolated the villainous creature to death. Amidst much laughter, fudged die rolls and blatant cheating.

No, I don't know why Beatrix decided to dress as a Tudor servant today. I felt it best not to question it at all.

Just awesome! Good family fun. Great memories to be made. I remember doing something similar back in *coughs* the '80s. I bought the DVD cartoon show just to add to my collection and watch it every now and then. I sat down with my nieces and nephews and watched it with them. It did make for some entertainment watching their reaction to it, though one kept going on about graphics and resolution, they did enjoy the content of the show.

Some of my favourite bits.
Beatrix (7) properly roleplayed her character, really thinking hard about what she wanted Carolina to say, and Thea (4) really got that as a result: "Goblins ARE very naughty," in her words.
Thea working out very quickly that a high roll was a good one, and quickly just handing me the d20 with the 20 face up, telling me, "I rolled this!" without rolling it at all.

You're a time traveler! If this was around when the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon came out on DVD, that was a bit more recent. :-)

I never seen the DVD set before or even heard of it's existence, I came across them when I was shopping and I bought them. I remember watching the tv show when I was younger. Sorry for the confusion everyone, this semester is a headache for me and I've not been doing too well.

I bet they can loot properly! Good effort mate, looks like you all had a blast. I was a bit shocked that they remembered to do it, after Beatrix's vivid descriptions of Carolina's 'magic sword made of acid' slicing up goblins, and Thea shouting, 'Azorath metrion ZINTHOS!' when she cast Magic Missile.
But yes, the girls made extra sure they got all the gold that the goblins dropped.
It reminded me of a few years ago when Beatrix (much younger) demanded that I be a troll that she could fight and defeat in the garden. When I 'died', I felt her scrabbling on my back. I asked her what she was doing and she told me, "I'm taking your stuff, like you do when you beat a monster in your computer game."

You mean... she has actually seen you loot?! That is more than the rest of us have seen XD
