It's great to avoid swearing and other offensive language, not only for the sake of others, but also out of plain common courtesy. However, there are those who just love the cathartic feeling that comes with spewing; hair curling, eye popping profanity - during situations of extreme anger...or boredom. However, you can't really relieve stress that way if it interrupts game play for other people, which is a fair sentiment. That's why I found this interesting list from Candlekeep, detailing alternate words for offensive language. It also goes beyond just giving alternate words for foul language, it even gives laymen names for plants, minerals that appear in toril, and even every day sayings and euphemisms. www.forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13403I hope y'all enjoy the find maybe instead of seeing the F word, we might start seeing Sabruin instead?

I am disappointed to see that a "Find On This Page" for the term "curse" only yielded 10 results, and only 6 of which are references to foul language.

I certainly feel like I could have posted something better indeed, but oh well lol. I am interested to see how far and fast a lot of these words, sayings and whatnot - will spread onto the server. This is already a very nice server, with a lot of love put into it, I told myself, why not try and add to the love by sharing some cool forgotten realms stuff?

It's certainly worth a read. Some of the words and phrases are pretty interesting. Just skimmed through the first few and one that stood out was
“by the clocks of Neverwinter” – Common:- a phrase used to swear at petty perfectionism or to solemnly swear one’s honesty (The North by Ed Greenwood, Jeff Grubb, Julia Martin, Steven E. Schend, Paul Jaquays, Steve Perrin)
