A letter has been left at the House of Gerld Huntsilver, the Land Lord living outside the Western Gate of Valkur's Roar. It is written in a flowing hand, clearly the same that left the poem at the Bear Cave next to his house. It was delivered by a pretty, if somewhat nervous seeming, Kara-Turan woman garbed in a fine, exotic garment of white and red.
Edit:
The young lady returns a while later, somewhat flustered, informing one of the servants that any reply for her can be left at the Tipsy Imp!
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds your family well. My name is Tanikawa Youko (Tanikawa being the family name, we put it first in our lands), a traveller from the far-off islands of Kozakura, and I write to you today with an inquiry regarding the cave near your house. In my travels through these 'Western Reaches' of yours, I've come to notice the many bears that live in the local woodlands, and particularily have come upon the curious cave mentioned, where these usually solitary animals seem to gather in great numbers.
At home in Kozakura, we call a place like it a Mori - a sacred place, a 'natural shrine' to the gods and spirits of nature, so to speak. I was wondering if the place held special spiritual significance to the locals, and reckoned you living next to it would know best. During my traveller's through these, to me, foreign lands, the bears of Cormyr have come to my aid in my hour of need twice now, and I'd like to learn if the cave is of special importance to the citizens of Valkur's Roar, being located right outside of your fine city. I am also curious if the cave, being so close to town, is 'owned' by anyone. Should you know any stories about the cave or who legally holds ownership over it, I'd be most delighted to hear back from you.
Should the Cave in fact be your possession, I hope you are not offended by me entering it and leaving an offering to the spirits to thank them for their aid. If the place is of no spiritual value to the locals, or it is and it would be compatible with your beliefs, I would be interested in errecting a small shrine where travellers can pray to the gods and spirits of nature as they set out from Valkur's Roar.
May the Eight Million Gods of Kozakura and those of Faerun smile upon you,
Tanikawa Youko, Shrine Maiden of the Great Shrine of Okaroshima
