It is two days before the new NWN2 toolkit is available to the FRC team.
FRC has been developed over several years and is now a 140MB module on one (virtually lag free) server.
Statically - FRC boasts 600+ highly developed Forgotten Realms areas. Forgotten Realms Cormyr has many hundreds of NPC's, thousands of player items, thousands of lines of interactive text, multitudes of placeable objects, hundreds of locations to visit, untold past and future adventures, multitudes of quests, multiple scores of dedicated role-players, a dedicated team of creators and several builders of great note, artists, designers, friends and general companions.
It has been a long - and beautiful - ever evolving road that is far from coming to it's end. And to our great old friends who have been with us through every aspect and change and discovery -- You are the people who have made NWN FRC the very essence of an intimate role-playing experience and you are who we create the world for. You have my unending thanks.
I am pleased to announce that the FRC team will be creating an incarnation of Cormyr for NWN2, now to be known as Forgotten Realms Cormyr 2, or FRC2.
It is our understanding that there will be significant limits to the scope of the world we are able to present in NWN2 especially regarding the scope and size of "persistent worlds" like FRC.
I will digress and say that when I first heard the term "persistent world" I thought they meant it! I set out to create just that... a persistent, Forgotten Realms World where you could log on and do anything you could imagine. I am confident our team has supplied that as well as any other I can think of.
It is in this spirit that I announce FRC2. *HURRAY!!*
The team will revisit Cormyr. We will shape the world starting in the east this time, the (until now) least developed areas of FRC... The adventure will start in the Thunderstone area with the Vast Swamp, Thunderpeaks, Hullack Forest, Dragonmere, and well beyond. Portals to other lands will exist as the campaign developers and as the software allows. FRC has far exceeded the original intent (like many modules and PW's) of NWN and I hope that we will be able to continue this path in NWN2.
Expect much of the same great play, sensible rules, and integrity that made FRC what it is now and what it will be in the very near future!
Proudly we step forward into the new day. Come with us.
** FRC will be a completely autonomous server for NWN and will be supported well into the future. There will be both NWN and NWN2 servers.
Cheers!
