Just thought I would give a pre-update assessment on the cloaks in the 1.68 update. (Not mine, but others.)
My wife is a DM on a hack and slash server and I have been listening to her opinion and the opinions of some of the players on her server. I have also been reading feed-back on a few other server forums I have been on and I have yet to hear or read a positive comment on the cloaks. To quote my wife:
"The colour of the cloaks is the same as the colour of old, used tea bags and you can't do anything with them."
Apparently, the equipped cloaks all look the same and cannot be modified in any way. If you have a crafted outfit that you have placed a cloak on and you equip a cloak, your char is wearing two cloaks. Also, if your char has wings and you equip a cloak, the wings disappear as long as the cloak is equipped.
The 1.68 cloaks are a big disappointment from what I have seen.

It makes sense to me that if you equip a cloak, you would have your wings under the cloak (therefore not visible).
The screenshots I have seen of the cloaks previously show them different colours. Not sure how to change the colour, but the shots of them in Bioware before the patch release showed at least three colours and I'm thinking four.

I welcome a sense of humor in any patch for a game that is four years old. It still astounds me that they are supporting NWN after this amount of time. From an administrative perspective it validates my reasons to continue to support the server for you guys as well. Bioware has proven that they are kind to the community (if nothing else) and I both welcome and applaude the patch. I am sure there is a way to embrace the cloaks and they have all but said that they will add a "null cloak" function to 1.69... I say no worries at all... it will only get better again.

From what I've read it's the haks that mess the whole thing up. I made a mod with no haks in it and you were able to dye the cloak in any colour you want. You can select a colour you want in the toolset or use dyes to make it look like the cloak you have always wanted. So I'd say that the cloaks work but not with haks.

CEP has halted their work on CEP2 for a patch to the 1.68 patch. They haven't disappointed in the past (to me anyways) so, I'd say soon we'll be able to have our cake and eat it too. (what's the use of having cake if you can't eat it, never liked that expression much, but it fit )

I will very happily recraft my armour so it doesn't have a cape neckpeice when it has a real visible cloak. That sounds really cool to me.

I commend them on the cloak issue. I think others will agree when I say, "It's about time."

What was wrong with the cloaks to begin with? Ha, read the first post over again and answered my own question. Nevermind.

I commend them on the cloak issue. I think others will agree when I say, "It's about time." Unfortunately these will not be enabled on our server until CEP2. There is the possibility of players losing gear if we install the cloaks. They will be in game soon enough though.
