While the title should be enough, just throwing in a reminder that this is a DM Q&A thread. Having seen a few people since my return with elves well below average height and other people making comments and emotes of the elven race in general being far smaller then humans it got me wanting to look for a DM Q&A that handled this issue, either to correct me for using Races of Faerun's expanded information if there was something else that FRC made use of (not that I can think of any source that marks elves as much shorter then humans other then Biowares silly elf model just being short). As I was unable to find a DM Q&A regarding such to bump I figured I'd just make one. What are the minimum/average/maximum heights of the various playable races and is Races of Faerun the correct book to be basing such off of (I believe it is, but that's a ruling for the team). Leve's Vital Statistics Tables Thread I included a link to Leve's Vital Statistics Thread as it covers all the info I want in regards to Races of Faerun though it doesn't have the same effect of is such the correct sourcebook to be looking at. (Leve's lore dumps are always worth a read and well formatted, regardless of which account she posted it under. . .) FM.

(Leve's lore dumps are always worth a read and well formatted, regardless of which account she posted it under. . .) FM. The sourcebooks I use for vital statistics, including height, age, and weight, are the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (3e) ( FRCS) and Player's Guide to Faerûn ( PGtF). Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting provides little information on height and weight for the races, except to say this (on pages 39-40): Player's Guide to Faerûn lists detailed vital statistics. These details are based on and should supersede the details from FRCS: Note: Races that are crossed out on the tables below are not playable races on FRC. Starting Ages (PGtF, page 31)

1 Use the Calishite entry for Durparis and Zakharans. 2 Use the Chondathan entry for Mazticans (Nexalans) and Turami. 3 Use the Damaran entry for Halruaans, Lantannas, Netherese, Shaarans, Shou, Tashalans, Tuigans, and Vaasans. 4 Use the Illuskan entry for Chultans. 5 Use the Mulan entry for Sossrims. 6 Use the Rashemi entry for Gurs, Nars, Raumvirans, and Ulutiuns. 7 Use the Tethyrian entry for Ffolk.
So, long story short, Forgotten Realms elves are taller than standard D&D elves. The heights and weights listed for drow in the table above are the heights and weights of elves in the D&D core rules. Elves in FR are taller. An moon elf male, for example, would be 4'10" plus 2d10 inches. So could be anywhere from 5'0" (4'10"+2) to 6'6" (4'10"+20) tall. To determine weight, the same value rolled on the height modifier for inches is then multiplied by the value rolled as the weight modifier and added in pounds to the base weight. Of course if you're not using random heights and weights, then you just pick numbers inside the ranges.

Glancing through the Vital Statistics thread you linked, it looks like the provided information from Races of Faerûn matches the information in Player's Guide to Faerûn, and I'd expect it to. Sometimes there are discrepancies between books though, so it's always a good idea to compare. It looks like Races of Faerûn covers a number of races that aren't listed in Player's Guide to Faerûn, but Player's Guide to Faerûn has all the ones we allow as playable races anyway (and some we don't).

Cheers Munroe, It's always good to have you chip in and give us all a good run down on things, it also serves as a nice bit of information for folks in the future.
