Faerex and Cormex couriers ride out from Immersea first to Suzail and Arabel, then beyond to the cities of Valkur's Roar, and Marsember. From there they ride to the towns and hamlets from Eveningstar and Espar to Shallybrook and Greatgaunt. Where they ride, the couriers trumpet the coming games of Shieldmeet, Year of the Blazing Hand, to be held on the 29th of Flamerule through the 1st of Elesias (July 29 to August 1st).
Unfurling lengthy scrolls, the heralds cry out the coming games sponsored by the City of Immersea and House Thundersword...
Law Breaking - The Laws of the Kingdom will be upheld during the Shieldmeet. Those breaking the law will be escorted from tourney grounds and disqualified from competition.
Injuring Bystanders - Contenders injuring bystanders located in appropraite areas during competitions will be disqualified from further competition.
Rule Breaking - One who breaks tourney rules may find himself or herself disqualified from further competition.
Sportsmanship - Contestents showing poor sportsmanship or being consistently troublesome may find themselves disqualified by any of the Shieldmeet Masters. Disqualified Contenders may appeal to Raoul Emberlock, Master of Games, to be allowed to compete further but there are no guarantees.
The Yield - The Shieldmeet promotes competition but not the loss of life and limb. Yielding forfeits victory and brings an end to the immediate contest at hand but is encouraged before maiming or loss of life is incurred. The Yield will be honored in the Shieldmeet. Yielded opponents must sheathe arms and exit the contest arena directly. Combatants who continue to press the attack against a yielded opponent will be disqualified.
Out of Bounds - Contenders who leave the arena or battlefield during contest are disqualified.
Unique Druid or Shifter Shapes - Unique shapes provided by special magic are not allowed.
Healing - Unless the rules that govern a specific contest say otherwise, healing by magical or mundane means is forbidden during a match. The Tournament will have healers on duty to assist with mending wounds after a match is decided. Note: This includes a Monk's Wholeness of Body, a Paladin's Lay on Hands, and polymorph/shapechange/wildshape forms that have regeneration . These abilities may only be used when healing specifically allowed.
Celestial, Fiendish, and Undead Creatures - will not be summoned in any contest during the Shieldmeet. The Shieldmeet is a celebration and contest of skill and will not tempt the wrath of the gods by summoning their servants for sport nor will undead creatures be created or summoned for use in competition.
Instant Death Magic, Implosions - The Shieldmeet promotes competition but not the loss of life and limb. Magic that slays one's target outright (save or die) is not allowed. Note: This includes the Monk's Quivering Palm and the Arcane Archer's Death Arrow.
Time Stop - The spell known as Time Stop is not allowed in any tourney event for the Shieldmeet.
Opening Ceremony - The Opening Ceremony will welcome all contestants to the Shieldmeet and give each the opportunity to announce themselves and the Person, Faith, or Creed they Champion. Contact Vennis Haler or Keth-Dho'Llae, Master and Mistress of Stage, to participate.

The mystery object provided by the Mistress of Skill at the race's start and must be carried through the race course to the finish line. Each member of the winning team will win a prize purse having one bank note worth 5,000 lions and an award from the Thundersword Treasury.
Great Debate (all levels) - Two candidates face off on stage to debate an issue that matters to the audience. Shieldmeet Tournament contestants and spectators are encouraged to submit debate topics for consideration. Those wishing to participate in the Great Debate should apply to Master Vennis Haler or Mistress Keth-Dho-Llae of the Stage. The prize purse for the debate is one bar of platinum bullion worth 50,000 gold lions.

Spellcasters may not target one another with their spells or illusions. Spellcasters may not target the enemy's illusion with a spell. Illusionary celestials, fiends, and undead are allowed in this contest.

The explorer who can complete the maze in the least amount of time wins the purse of a bank note worth 5,000 gold lions and a suitable award from the Thundersword Treasury.

True Warrior's Grit - Melee Duels between warriors without the use of magic items, spells, and supernatural abilities (wildshape, divine shield, etc). Only mundane armor and weapons are allowed. Note: Adamantine and Masterwork items are not allowed in this event. Contestents must provide their own mundane armor and weapons when competing. The victor of each duel will continue on against the next victor until only one remains undefeated to claim the prize for their category. Note: These are melee contests. Monks may use Flurry of Blows and Stunning Fist, but not Empty Body in this event.
