First presented as a speech in the street outside the Academy by Mirrir, copies of the proclamation are quickly carried across Cormyr by Bards of the Institute and posted in taverns and markets.
From the Alizarin Academy
Today we are overjoyed to announce that a great blessing has been bestowed upon us.
Many are aware of the tragic events of the Tun marsh in which fourteen of our students were believed lost. The initial findings in our attempts to investigate the area provided little hope.
Just three days ago, on the 14th of Ches, a force of Purple Dragons along with our own Mistress Avehoste were finally able to scour the sight on foot. Despite initial apperances, changes in the weather, drainage from the area, and a number of other factors lead to the discovery that though we had believed our students lost, fate was far kinder. Petrified and sunken into the mud, all fourteen were able to be recovered thanks to the valiant and persistent efforts of the rescue team.
Alizarin would like to publicly thank and honor the Purple Dragons of Cormyr for their outstanding efforts, the Royal Corps of Monster Hunters for aiding us in our time of great need. It is thanks to their persistence that we are able to welcome our Fellows home.
At this time we would like to ask Cormyr to raise their glasses in honor of our brave soldiers, and join us in celebration of what seems no less than a mircale.
Presently we must ask that the curious respect the space of the Academy, the Families, and the Fellows.
Many may be interested in the details of what has occurred, as rumor is close companion to such events. For the sake of knowledge in the face of speculation we are able to provide these details;
On the 5th of Alturiak the Alizarin Expedition to uncover artifacts from a research sight was attacked by one Padrin Wefnet, Druid of Cormyr, with the aid of a stampede of magical beasts known as Gorgons.
Alizarin Staff attempted to investigate the site thereafter but due to the conditions of the swamp, caused by both the stampede and the seasonal weather made direct approach near impossible. Investigation from the air revealed a sunken, flooded ruin, with no evidence of survivors.
The Puple Dragons were tasked by the Crown of Cormyr to investigate the site and set out to do so, but met similar difficulties to our own staff in the inhospitable terrain.
Finally the Royal Corps of Monster Hunters was dispatched on the 14th of Ches with the attendance of Mistress Avehoste were finally able to breach the swamp and make it to the site and uncover the petrified forms that had previously been hidden in the murk.
Thus on the 15th of Ches all fourteen of our students have returned to us.
In light of this, Padrin Wefnet has been formally charged by the Crown for Magical Assault rather than Murder, and has paid restitution to the families to the sum of 98,000 lions, and has been barred from the Academy Grounds for life.
Many have postulated as to why this attack took place. Though we cannot speak for Mister Wefnent himself, the presentation of his beliefs was that our archological dig was host to sinister intention. Unverified by investigation prior to this attack, we have to this date found no evidience towards any fiendish activity and are presently providing our full cooperation to the War Wizards investigating the findings from the site itself.
Though with the ultimate destructive nature of the attack and the corrosion of the swamp itself the truth may never be fully known, Mister Wefnent himself has agreed that he acted in haste with little or no facts at his disposal.
May this serve as a lesson towards the danger of rumor and secret in the face of honest inquiry and inspection to gain knowledge.
We thank the people of Cormyr for their outpouring of support during this difficult time.
Again we ask that the space of Alizarin Academy and the Families be respected while our staff and students take the time to rejoice and recover.
If there are further questions they may be directed to Headmaster Alyster Lang, Mistress Alaethyl Avehost, or myself.
Thank you - and may you never stop learning.
- In my own hand, on behalf of Headmaster Alyster Darkharp and the Academy Entire,
Overmistress Mirrir Tharasvin
