Greetings, may all be well with you.
I am a simple adventurer and as you know that profeession is often dirty and bloody. So it happened that one of my bank notes ended up covered in blood, obscuring some writting. The bank refuses to accept this note. I plead with you, and for all other adventurers in mind, to authenticate this note and force the bank to deliver what it owes.
With fairness and justice in mind,
-Ghostknife the Failed Monk

Unfortunately, a bank note that has become so marred as to be impossible to authenticate by the issuing authority, or other associated banking authorities, is a risk when dealing with bank notes. Individual banks issue notes, and while those notes are accepted at various banks throughout Cormyr, the currency of Cormyr is maintained in hard coinage: the copper thumb, the silver falcon, the golden lion, and the platinum tricrown.
Choosing to invest your coins into bank notes is a personal risk, as you leave your true wealth in the hands of another. If you wish for your gold to be secure, it is your responsibility to safeguard it. Bank notes are of course one way to do so, but if you can't protect your bank notes then it is recommended you consider carrying true coin currency, which isn't so easily diminished in value by the stain of blood or the simple decay time may bring.
Unfortunately, an illegible bank note has no significant value. If this bank note represented a serious gold investment to you, you have our condolences.
