*This official statement has been sung out on the streets of many cities, towns, and villages by criers and also written by many scribes to spread it via written word as well.*
CORMYR AT WAR!
Citizens of Cormyr, we are officially at war with an unrecognized nation with a hostile undead army as it's instrument of assertion. The final straw was the recent occupation and liberation of GreatGaunt, a highly traveled village of trade and popular home base of many aspiring adventurers. As valiant a defense as such a village gave, it was by far no match for an army of the undead and quickly fell and for nearly a week the undead army held the village until it's recent liberation.
Citizens of Cormyr, the threat seems far from over, the undead have threatened to be far more aggressive and possibly make an attempt on the cities of Cormyr themselves, so remain vigilant. Should they come and a city clearly start to fall, do not sacrifice your lives needlessly to a man just to hold the last few cobblestones of ground. Cormyr is strong and we will overcome in the end. We can rebuild but bringing every life back from the dead is impossible, so do not sacrifice yourself or others in the name of stubborn and prideful glory.
A new law has been passed as of today. Any Necromancer caught creating undead for any reason, no matter where or being escorted bu undead, will be charged with creating a hostile instrument of evil and slavery for forcing the creation into service. You will be punished to the full extent of the law under these new guidelines. Necromancers known to have done so in the past for personal use or to help Cormyr are ordered to cease their experiments and activity in this regard, failure to do so will result in extreme penalties under Cormyrian law and during this time of war it will be considered worse, a traitor to the crown and assumed an enemy in league with the Isle of the dead's army. During this time of war it is almost guaranteed the death penalty will result from such.
