When his shift is over, Waldo, the watchman at Isinhold's South gate finds a small but clean and new piece of parchment deftly tacked onto the lower part of his shield with wood resin.
It concerns an eyewitness report of the murder of the old man who lives outside the Isinhold South gates during his shift. When the confounded Waldo rushes out, he find the horribly mutilated corpse of an old man in front of his hovel outside the gates. It correctly identifies the murder weapon as a scythe and it gives a brief but very accurate description of a scantily clad orc as the murderer.
It describes how the orc lumbered out of the gate, cast a few crude spells on itself, sauntered up to the old man, and butchering him for no reason at all but evil bloodlust and without warning. It finishes with a passsage that seems to indicate that the witness would be prepared to step forward and testify provided there is sufficient evidence of a serious investigation of the murder.
The writing is not easy to read. It is neat, elegant and flowing, but it seems to be scrawled down in a hurry by someone who writes quickly and often, and it completely fills the piece of parchment.
