Authorites are baffled at the latest grizzly murder in Isinhold. It wasn't the fact that the murder was commited in broad daylight infront of crowds of onlookers in the streets of Isinhold. Nor was it the fact that the deed was done with dark and horrible magic that even the most evil of cultists would cringe to draw upon! The thing that had local authorities baffled and shocked was the identity of the vile murderer herself. A young priestess of Ilmater named Abbagail Winters. Abby was widely known and loved throughout Suzail and surrounding villages for selfless works to help the poor and heal the wounded, needless to say, the grizzly details of her crime were a very sad suprise to those poor folk whom she had conned and tricked with her "gentle healer" farse!
As of yet, detail from the scene are scarce, but what is known is that after some sort of argument, the Ilmateri priestess went into the Regal Griffon, only to return with murder upon her lips. Witnesses say she uttered strange words and the victim, a helpless elf whose name is believed to have been Ulf was wracked with gruesome injuries. Even as the brave Vestele Laelithar tried to save young Ulf, onlookers say that darkness itself seemed to flow from the Ilmateri witch, making sight impossible... all the better to work her evil magic. His suffering was cut short only when the cleric's second spell did it's grizzly work, utterly destroying not only the victim, but even his very remains!
Details are sketchy at best concerning Ulf, the unfortunate victim of this hate crime. One onlooker suggested that he was just some poor stranger who was in the wrong place at the wrong time when madwoman's evil bloodlust could no longer be contained! Other's say he was a war hero from the Redmist conflict who was wrongly accused for "doing his duty" by the crazy Ilmateri woman.
Ser Benton of the Isinhold watch was as shocked as anyone: "Well, its a damned shame's what it is! I ne'r woulda figured 'er fer a murderer! Lass used ta' come round help'n out at the healer's house an tended adventurer's hurts. Hells, she once even patched ME up! I spose it jes goes ta show... ye can ne'r tell with some folk."
The dutiful guardsman shakes his head in confusion and saddness... And his words echo the thought of many, you never CAN tell where evil lurks... not in what guise it takes.
After the heinous deed was done, Winter's was taken to a jail cell where she awaits her sentencing. As to what that will be, it is for the courts to decide, and may the gods have mercy on her soul!
