Cruor Unus Verum
Cruor Unus Verum, which translates into the blood of the one truth, is known only to those loyal and true to the cause. A select group of men have always wanted to rule all of Faerun and unite it under a single faith. In the past, direct conquest almost always failed. Those "saved" despised their savoirs which led to outrage and rebellion. This new group learned from others' past failures and reaslized a better method exists to the same end. Members of Cruor Unus Verum are committed to accomplish the same goals subtly.
Cruor Unus Verum will use force and persuasion to controle territory if necessary, by marching armies against reticent towns or by bribin bored nobles with slaves, riches and offers of power, but never unders its own banner unless guaranteed no survivors can speak of its existance. The Zhentarim and the church of bane know of the group's existance and support its efforts. With its close ties to the Zhents, the group has been able to focus on subtler methods of conversion, leaving the more direct methods to the Black Network. While murder, torture and enslavement are not beyond them, most energy is placed in praying on man's weakness. Politicians are easily seduced by power and intoxicating women, guards corruptable, adventurers are greedy and so on; they all have a price or a desire which makes them vulnerable. Over time and through many means, the group will gradually infiltrate and delude the masses into accepting their ideals.
In addition, the group works to infiltrate buisness, commerce and trades similar to the zhents. Money is a source of power, therfore attempts will/are made to control merchants, taverns and other buisnesses throughout the realm.
Those who resist will be used as tools, enslavement or be eliminated. If politicians and town officials cannot be corrupted, members will be tasked to seek political office under the guise of betterment to all. This of course falls within the ideals of the group as they profoundly believe their goals will deliver the ideal society. Such subtle gradualism, along with effective distraction such as staging zhentarim raids to occupy the local guard and allow members to appear as a better choice, will bring about the change over time. Ideally therefore most will be unaware of what is going on.
The loss of this document and infomation will cost the barer his life.
