A Dwarven foursome and an Elf lass clad in a dark robe were seen traveling between Greatgaunt and Valkur's Roar, arrayed for battle and eager to march.
A league or so away from Greatgaunt they spied a group of worgs and took to them, laying all low after a brief skirmish. They were preparing to head down the other side of the small hill when above and to the sides of them the sky darkened unnaturally, an inky blackness. One of the male Dwarfs, wearing earth-tone robes and silvery adamantine chain bellowed 'Form a circle back to back!' but even as he spoke the shadows resolved themselves into what looked like cloaked and hooded figures, taunting them and calling shadows down on the beleaguered group. Pressing the attack brutally the Dwarves fought all comers, prayers to Moradin and Berronar heard through the darkness. The Elf called down the Weave. When all was over...the allies emerged injured but alive, their shadowy opposition all but a memory as there were no corpses left behind. A voice on the wind seemed to say 'The Shadow Hand take you all!'
With grim determination, the group then continued on towards Valkurs Roar, stopping to dispatch a few ettins camped nearby on a hillock.

Three Dwarven men and a woman along with a Man of middling years stride proudly into Valkur's Roar, congratulating each other on cleansing one of the many crypts dotting the land that writhes with foul perversions of life within. Among the boasting though there are careful words spoken of 'another attack by those shadows' and passersby might hear them speak of girding themselves and warning their allies. The Man bears a shield with the symbol of Ilmatar upon it, and two of the male Dwarves openly wear holy symbols, one of Moradin and the other of Gorm Gulthyn. The other Dwarven male wears black and silver plate, a dented and much-repaired warhelm with horns affixed to either side. The Dwarven maiden has a proud bearing, wearing armor of grey and pinkish hues, and holds a battleaxe in one hand as if long used to it.
