A minor fact about Forgotten Realms elves is that different from Greyhawk elves, they are slightly taller than humans instead of smaller copying MiddleEarth.
I was floored myself when I found out, and elves are obvioulsy smaller in all the videogames that take place in FR
No real comment here than to say that nearly noone under the sun knows of this rule or plays by it.

In 'Evermeet, Island of Elves' the taller elves are almost as tall as humans, like king Zaor who was almost as tall as a human, since Evermmet tell the story of all elves in Faerun since their arrival... where you saw that Faerunian elves are taller than humans? I'm not saying you're worng, I'm really just very curious.

nothing in Faerun campaign settin states that . . Im lookin at a picture of all the elven subraces and a human. Elves are slightly smaller 1" or 2 . . the only race significally smaller is the drow which goes to the shoulders of the other elves. . . Be Good B.

I am really not trying to be combative either, but I would also like to know the source of this.
In my FR campaign book, it appears they are smaller than humans, and this is the source I have always relied upon. So, anything countering this would be very interesting to me.
Cheers!

From the Player's Guide to Faerun: (BH = Base Height)
Drow Elf: Male BH = 4'5" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d6"
Moon Elf: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Sun Elf: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Wild Elf: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Wood Elf: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Half Elf Drow: Male BH = 4'7" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d8"
Half Elf other: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Human Calishitee: Male BH = 4'9" Female BH = 4'4" Modifier = +2d10"
Human Chondathan: Male BH = 5'0" Female BH = 4'7" Modifier = +3d6"
Human Damarran: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
Human Illuskan: Male BH = 5'2" Female BH = 4'9" Modifier = +2d8"
Human Mulan: Male BH = 4'11" Female BH = 4'6" Modifier = +2d10"
Human Rashemi: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d8"
Human Tethyrian: Male BH = 4'10" Female BH = 4'5" Modifier = +2d10"
So on average (and I mean average in the sense of if you take the average from your roll) Humans will be slightly taller than elves, but not by much (in fact it all depends on the rolling). And it all depends on your race as well. The one thing that doesnt make sense to me is the Rashemi. Wasn't Minsc a Rashemi, and to me he always seemed like a Big Azz Mofo! Maybe they just made him have the max height for his category.

"Vital Statistics": From D&D Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting, page 39- 40.
"Most characters in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting use the normal height and weight values given on table 6-6: Random Height and Weight in the Players Handbook. However, elves in Faerun are tall and thin, so all elves except drow use the human height and half-elven weight. Half-elves use the human height and half-elven weight entries. Drow use the elven height and weight entries."

There was a little insight given on this in the DM forum. This explanation of elves is from the FR 3.5 rules. This campaign was started using the 3.0 rules, and NWN uses mostly 3.0 rules. I can only hope that NWN2 recognizes the 3.5 FR setting, or they make future models scalable so that we can enact them at will. For now, I think it is best that we stick with the 3.0 convention on elves to avoid confusion and heartache. Given the fact that NWN models are not scalable, we kinda have to live with this discrepancy for now. Cheers!

Never understood why they thought the basic game had to be changed so much.

They didn't reissue the campaign setting itself, just issued a smaller book (Player's Guide to Faerun?) with changes from 3.0 to 3.5. I know I read it in the 3.0 Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting before but even when I put it forward on a server I used to play it was ignored because the character models simply don't reflect the campaign setting specifics, instead using models closer to the Player Handbook. I think the models are going to be scalable in NWN2, so they might remedy the problem there, or if not leave it open to be remedied on the part of the module makers.

i've never been fond of nwn's approach to character anatomy in the first place. if jargo and cor both stand next to one another they both look huge with muscular builds, even if jargo has only little more than half of cor's strength score...
i quickly learned to ignore the proportions of the character 3d models. instead i look at the clothes/armours they wear. some clothing and armours can make your char look alot bigger and i've seen players using this as a way of depicting the physical size of their chars. if not that, then i check the bios.
as far as the height of elves goes, i've known for some time now that in forgotten realms elves are as tall as humans. however i never pressed the issue since the models in nwn look alot smaller than humans. it's no big deal anyhow...
