Physical Description:
A man in his early- to mid-twenties that doesn’t stand out much in a crowd. Despite being quite tall, his general build seems somewhat lanky. An easily forgettable face that is neither particulary pretty nor in any way ugly rounds up the impression of a man that is completely ordinary in any way.
His black hair is usually neatly tied back into a pony tail, his face well shaven and his clothes kept clean. What little is visible of his arms betrays his lanky build, and so would the rest of his body, if one was to see it. While thin, he is to be quite packed with musculature and seems to possess barely any fat, often demonstrating a surprising strength for a man of his appearance.
Behaviour:
Jared’s behaviour usually doesn’t do much to make him appear more interesting. In town, he can usually be seen quietly scribbling into one of his countless note books, reading one of his countless other books, or standing behind Kira looking over anyone talking to, or even as much as coming near her, appraisingly. Among huge groups of people, he may seem somewhat uncomfortable.
In battle, Jared displays an odd mixture of intense focus and happyness. His near constant, silent counting, rhytmic breathing and attention to even the most minor flaws in his enemy’s style make it clear he is concentrated on the battle, yet the subtle hint of a smile seems plastered on his face as he attacks, parries, blocks, kills, and even while hit, running for his life or being struck down.
While Jared’s swordwork may seem overly patterned, foes that think they can use this to their advantage quickly realize that he apparently knows dozens of styles and switches between them with ease if he has the feeling his enemy is adapting to them, and that he is quite capable of combining them or improvising something new if that doesn’t work either. An observer might note that he uses a wide variety of styles, originating from all over Faerun and a multitude of races, among them human, dwarven, hin and even orcish styles, though one might realize there is a distinct lack of elven styles if one watches long enough. He also tends to use his shield a lot, not only to block, but also to disrupt his enemies movements with a well timed bash or simply using it to get their weapons out of the way of his own attacks.
He makes little effort to hide his admiration when facing a competent opponent, often complimenting them in mid battle, not to distract them, but simply because he means it, or offering suggestions on how to improve their styles or equipment – not to mock them, but because he actually means it. All in all, he seems to completely lack any contempt for whoever he faces, be it a noble, honourable warrior or a devious demon from the lowest layers of the abyss, exceptions being those using weaponry he considers an insult to any warrior or weaponsmith (mostly double-weapons) and pretty much anyone who assaults Kira if she didn’t assault them magically beforehand or was obviously planning to. Oh… and monks.
