Another day another town. Redmist. A place that had known grief, had known death. Had known tyranny, and strife. Had know great suffering. From infernal influences, to followers of Bane's rule. To undead armies, and then to the iron fisted rule of Thay, and Lord Bloodstil. A wagon made its way lazily through the street drawing curious eyes. They had seen their share of traveling merchants before but a small crowd had began to gather. A handsome young man of no more then 18 summers stepped from the wagon, not richly dressed but neat and clean giving nods to those that had gathered. He began to speak slowly, softly. He spoke of loved ones lost past and present. The scourge of beasts and men. More had gathered around of all ages..young and old drew closer to listen to his message.
"So many sorrows have come to these lands.." The handsome young man spoke openly, boldly now. "So many, have fallen under the blades of many who do not still dwell here, nor have they ever belonged here." Almost instantly, a small crowd began to gather as the boys words where heard. He moved slowly among them. His hands gently touching many in a comforting manner. "Let us not forget our loved ones, let us not forget the truth.. of these dark days! Your land is freed from one unjust Crown's tyranny.. but still you suffer. Still, you are not protected from the curse that seems to linger over this place.." His eyes, so blue as he spoke. He walked among them, many nodding. Some touching his out reached hand. "All of you, have lost.. loved ones, friends.. family.. some, you can now only dream of.."
A small blonde headed girl not hardly five sniffled as he spoke of their departed loved ones, her mother's death recent at the hands of monsters of the night. The young man approached the young girl cupping her innocent face in the palm of his hand as he knelt, to see her eye to eye. Brushing back her hair from her tearstained cheek he kissed her forehead softly, offering her words of comfort. "why do you weep so child?"
She spoke gently. "I miss my mommy so...terrible monsters took her in the night. I.." She began to weep now, more openly. "I-.. cannot remember what she looks like and I am afraid to sleep, so afraid.. I have bad dreams." She sobbed quietly a moment, the young man's cornflower blue eyes looked caring on the child's distressed features. Taking her by the hand he led her gently from her Aunt's side who's cheeks were also streaked from tears at the loss of her Sister, toward the wagon. Taking a dreamcatcher from a wooden box he gently turned her palms upward and placed it there. "Hang this near your bed before you sleep, it will help guide your dreams to find her, little angel.. it will help you recall her face and you will never forget her."
The young girl took the beautiful dream catcher, made of fine silver with intricate etching and bright purple and red steamers. Her brown eyes wide, her sobbing ceased to gentle sniffles as she clutched the young man tight in a hug. "Oh.. thank you Mister.. it is the most beautifulest thing ever.. " Her bottom lip quivered as she spoke. He smiled and rose. The girls Aunt also reaching to embrace the young man. He hugged her in return.
He then continued to speak of lost loved ones offering what he could in remembrance of them to each and every person who listened to his words and would accept his gifts. The same scene playing out as in many other cities all over Cormyr, always one staying behind to council and made sure that each was given something in remembrance of their loved ones, the wagon moving on to the next village or town.
From a mild distance. Three eyes watched. Three eyes felt, and understood the depths of sorrow those who the young people helped, through words, and gifts. Knew it, as a lover knows their beloved. Three eyes, that did not weep.
