//Doh! Didn't notice there was a calendar entry for this event... The calendar isn't used as much as it should, so I'm not used to looking at it. Perhaps in the future a link to the calendar entry can be added to posted events. Here's the link to the Tournament in Cormyr event on the calendar...

OOC: Will participants in the archery and swordfighting contests be provided shortbows and/or shortswords upon request or are there competitions for big weapons only?
Yes, everyone who can wield a shortbow can wield a longbow, but feats are not interchangeable. The same is true for swords. |

Will kung-fu crazy ninjas be provided kung-fu crazy ninja swords, or will said kung-fu crazy ninjas be forced to fight with roundeye-primitive-sharpend-club swords and wussy-little-girl-with-lollypop shields?
Ooh... also, will the swordplay be broken down by levels like the mage duel?

Yes, everyone who can wield a shortbow can wield a longbow... The above statement is false. * Halflings and gnomes, because of size restrictions, can wield shortbows but cannot wield longbows. * Weapon Proficiency Rogue allows shortbows but does not allow longbows. (Mouse won't be participating anyway, as she read the rules and felt excluded, but I have this... obsessive need to correct errors...)

OOC:
Halflings can use shortbows, but not longbows, and I suppose the same is true for gnomes. As for swords, heavier ones would not allow the benefit of the Weapon Finesse feat, so dexterity-based swordplayers could be in disadvantage.
I'm not sure what the answer above is saying, if it is "yes" to the first or to the second part of the question, but I hope that both shortbows and shortswords will be provided.
However, I saw in another server wooden swords that were actually clubs being used in tournaments like this, to allow any class to join ( I think all can use clubs). And to account fot those that can't use bows, another competition with throwing weapons, like darts. But I'm just throwing this here as a side comment, since things seem to be already defined - and looking good!
It promises to be fun!
Ali
Edit: Damn, I made my post without realizing there was a second page... Well, here it is, anyway. ;D

OOC: To be very clear. This is to be a contest of skill, not gear. No magical gear is allowed.
Contestants will be provided with a mundane sword or bow of their choice. No composite bows, only long or shortbow.
Also swordplay means sword... play, not mace or flail or whatever stupid weapon you weenie clerics use. (*means weenie in the nice way, not the other way*)

OOC: Yes, I did fail to take into consideration characters of size small and characters who don't have the martial weapons proficiency feat but can still use shortbows (ie rogues). To quote Optimus Prime: "My bad."
