PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE ENTRY CAREFULLY BEFORE ASKING A MILLION QUESTIONS:
Here is a full explanation regarding the recent ban on damage reduction and resistance. I will try and make this as simple as possible though it is a bit complicated.
Many items have been altered rather than out and out banned. I will start with what has specifically been banned, and what (probably more importantly to most of you) has not.
BANNED:
1. Any item that grants more than one type of damage resistance in the piercing, bludgeoning or slashing categories.
Items included in this category that have been totally removed are:
a) Bracers of Combat
b) Belts of Resistance
c)"Ironhand" Branded Items
d) Ironskin Rings (Major and Minor)
These items will be turned in for refund by request or demand by a DM.
2. Any item that grants damage reduction of any sort is banned. Example anything that grants +1/ soak 5 is now illegal and should be requested for refund or will be demanded for refund purchase by a DM.
NOT BANNED:
In reference to damage resistance items that grant 15/ or lower of ELEMENTAL resistance ARE NOT BANNED. They are far more expensive if they give 15/, but are not entirely banned unless they prove to be an issue. Most items left that grant 15/ elemental require total commitment on the part of the player to use, therefore I felt they were not entirely necessary to ban at this time. Should they prove to be an issue, or if players are discovered "swapping" these items to their convenience, further action may be taken.
There are maybe one or two items that will be excluded from this, but they have specific deficiencies that make them acceptable. If you have an item that carries a 20/ (or greater) resistance on the elemental side, please contact a DM, or you will be contacted.
CHANGED:
Many items were given Spell Resistance in lieu of damage resistance/reduction. These include:
a) Adamantine Armor used to have damage reduction +1/soak 5... this now carries Spell Resistance 10 and will be "swapped" by a DM upon demand or request. If your adamantine armor was purchsed before it carried the damage reduction, then you need take no action.
b) "Adventurer" Class Robes were made more like Battle Robes except they are purely defensive in nature and carry only the AC bonus of +1/Spell Resistance 10 for Lesser and +3/Spell Resistance 14 for Master.
c) Robes of the Old Order (both types) now carry only AC bonus but are VERY significantly reduced in price and still only usable by monks.
d) Belt of Inertial Barrier was altered to have an AC bonus and Spell Resistance 10 while maintaining it's weakness to direct piercing attacks.
e) Kara-tur Tunics have been altered to increase one's tumble ability as per their description while no longer carrying the damage reduction. Anyone who doesn't want this new ability will be given a full refund.
f) Robes of Mystra no longer grant damage resistance. They now give a greater level of spell resistance and a higher AC bonus and aid in spell casting.
e) Warlock Tunic was given a simple AC bonus and reduced in price.
WHAT'S NEXT:
If you aren't carrying any of these items, relax...
If you are, you will be contacted soon by a DM, or you should volunteer your item to a DM. You will be given your purchase price back, or as close as we are able to assimilate.
If you have a question regarding a specific item PLEASE CONTACT DM JUSTICAR. I will do my best to resolve the issue.
I want this process to be as painless as possible, and trust me it has cost alot of my personal time in real life even attempting to get this far in the process. Please co-operate with the DM's as they are there to help you. There may be misunderstandings on this issue. IF SO I REQUEST BOTH DM AND PLAYER TO CALMLY ADDRESS THE SITUATION. Please contact me with any questions. No DM should "demand" any item unless they are positive it is on the list, likewise, no player should disregard a DM's reasonable demand for an item on the list.
We must work together to bring balance back to FRC for all players as that is the goal of this action.
