They've got S-video, which is what I use, still good quality. Most video cards come with 1 or 2 dvi ports, some agp to dvi adapters, and they usually have a single s-video port as well. Most all TV's, DVD players, what have you, can recieve S-video input. Then you need an RCA adapter (I think that's what they're called) To split the audio from your computer into the Red and white audio cables. Plug 'em in and start the party!

on the topic of 7800's, they are amazing cards actually, but they are not the highest, obviously. However, getting a card that can run F.E.A.R. at full settings, 1280x1024 4x anti-aliasing, 16x antistropic filtering, and soft shadows enabled, all at 51 fps, I'd say it's one sweet buy at $300. I'm running an Evga Geforce 7800 GT 256mb PCI-Express. I love my life ;D i have a X800 XT i run it at all max with the same resolution EXCEPT soft shaows at 55 FPS and with soft shadows 40 FPS and mine is over a year old and the 7800 is what 2, 3 months old? and can only run it that much higher? seems kinda, well crappy then again F.E.A.R is an extreamly demanding game. lol unlike counter strike where i get mid 100's for FPS, i once got 163 FPS totally maxed Keep in mind the 7800 GT is NOT the top of the line from Nvidia. That's one of their GTX models, another 150 bucks on top easily. Soft shadows is also an extremely demanding feature that ranks up there with anti-aliasing. Tom's hardware rocks. Enough said. ATI doesn't spend money on advertising? Who's logo got slapped on the front of every Half-life 2 package, one of the best selling games of all time? And Doom 3? Both companies are spending plenty on advertising, though my loyalties lie with Nvidia at the moment. They focus more on using shaders, popular in F.E.A.R. and Battlefield 2. ATI is better at rendering things faster, making it the choice for Half-Life 2, Doom 3, and the like. However, I certainly do support their competition. That's what keeps prices down for the consumer and let me buy my 7800 GT for just 300 bucks. ;D ~Gallin

neither Half Life 2 nor Doom 3 had the ATI logo on them and nVidia beat the heck out of ATI in Doom3 and always will because of the way they built it, and hugely because of the fact it's OpenGL. nVidia has their logo and intro movie on ... an uncountable number of games. I could try to think up a list of games but I fear I don't have that much spare time lol and I don't want this thread to become an argument i like talking about hardware/software haha especially with ppl who also like it and are knowledgable oh and as for the GTX...those damn things are blazing fast if you buy the right ones :S but ati will trump them, then vise-versa and so on and so forth

As for ATI slapping their name on the games, you may be correct that they didn't put it on half life 2 or doom 3, but I know that on the graphics card, they did buy the right to be the "preferred graphics card" and slapped the HL2 or Doom3 logo on the ATI boxes.

that's right, i know they did HL2 because they gave out free copies of it with new gfx cards, as for doom3 :S dunno, don't remember promotions but i may very well be wrong, and i checked my HL2 box when i got home yesterday! it has a small ati logo on the back at the bottom that's like... 0.5cm x 0.5cm that simply says ATI lol but yea they both have their strong points so they're both great cards and framerate scores are usually only like 10fps off tops

"16 pipelines and 48 shader processors." core clock is 650 and mem clock is 1550 but apparently nVidia is pumping out the 7900, just weeks after ATI's release, and it will be based on the G71 core...which is 32 pixel pipelines clocked much higher :S ... it's all up in the air right now.
This means...cheaper X800's lol .. yay!

I know this thread was more for bragging about what you're system has or what you'd like to have, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to put this.
I've been having a problem with NWN for a while now. Nothing major, just annoying. REALLY ANNOYING.
About half the time I start the program, it runs fine for about a minute. Then it just cuts to my desktop as if I just minimized a window. The program still runs, it's just sitting in my toolbar on my desktop. I click back on the program and it runs again with no problems. Then every five minutes or so it does the same thing. It persists like this for about half an hour and then just stops doing it.
Now I know I'm not hitting my windows key (located between the left "ctrl" and left "alt" keys) which would do this if I wanted it to. I did a virus scan and all that, too, a few days ago, so I know the system's clean (and running at a decent pace, I might add).
Anyone got any ideas? And please don't say reinstall. I'll have to retire and dedicate the whole remainder of my life to waiting for it to reinstall.

Racestark,
Have you checked your Virus Protection? My does something similiar If I just boot up and jump onto NWN. I have PC Cilian and when it checks for any updates it knocks me out of NWN and minimizes. You may want to check for any updates on your protection before logging onto NWN.

I'd have to agree with Anvil... I use Norton and I regularly have NWN pop down minimized whenever Norton tries to update rules or asks me to address some app seeking permission outbound. I haven't been able to stop it from occuring without turning off my protection so I've personally given up since there is no way I am shutting it down.

No, all other programs aren't running and I never get a message telling me anything about my virus protection. It just minimizes like I described and starts right back up when I click on it in the toolbar on my desktop.
I'll just live with it. Thanks all the same.
