Kasur came to Cormyr to earn enough to pay for his wedding, but before he gets married he has to get a place to bring his bride home to, and he has to earn enough gold to pay his wife's brideprice.
Q1: How much would it cost to purchase and maintain a cozy cottage in the Skull Crag region? (I don't need an actual place, and if Skull Crag is a bad place to have a home for some reason, please let me now that too, but Kasur needs someplace to call home.)
Q2: Kasur needs to have his bride's weight in gold to get her father's permission to marry. I'm assuming a dwarven woman weighs around 130 pounds but in accordance with the ancient tradition, what she wears to her wedding is hers alone, and thus dwarven wedding gowns tend to be as heavily encrusted with gold and jewels as her family can afford. I'm assuming her father will have loaded her gown with as much weight as she can manage to carry, so a gross weight of around 200 pounds by my assumption. (Feel free to have his bride overeat over the years of Kasur's absence or her father giving her rings of strength to carry a heavier gown!) So, how much does a gold coin weigh in Cormyr?
According to the Player's Handbook 3.5e (page 112), a standard coin weighs about 1/3 ounce, or 50 to the pound.
The coinage section in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (page 91) does not list different information. It does list that coins are many and varied in Faerun but that all are judged by comparison to a "gold piece," defined as "a 'standard' gold coin, circular and unpierced, about an eighth-inch thick, and an inch-and-a-quarter across."
I prowl the forum late at night in search of blood!
I realize players are not suppose to post here but I have a question that links directly to this one... Do coins actually contribute to the weight of your pack on FRC? I.E they can make you become encumbered.
Again sorry if I shoulda made a new thread i just didn't think it was necessary
Next time a DM sees me on, please spawn 3 balors on me.

No they dont.
*Hroth and Vind resting amidst some rubble* Hroth: *pulls out some jerky and hands Vind a piece* Vind: *takes a bite* This is good, you jerk it yourself? Hroth: *raises an eyebrow* No, I never do my own jerking. There is a lady in suzail that does my jerking for me. Does a good job to! Vind: *nods* I do all my own jerking. But maybe I should get someone else to do it. Hroth: Try Glewien
