My character was once on trial and questioned about summoning undead minions in cormyr. There was no legla issue with summong them as long as not in a city or town or populated area and the only thing mentioned was where the components for the spell came from. I need to know if it is in fact legal to summon undead if it is not in a city or town or populated area and if the components are obtained legally in cormyr. As to my trial it was seen as legal but i kind of need official word on it if you would please. THank.
I was under the impression that the bodies obtained for such work would be needed to be obtained legally, with written permission, as proof of course. you would then have to have that for how many bodies to took for each summon. you summon an undead ettin = lots of bodies/ or ettin body.
But since I'm not a DM I'll let the DMs handle this proper like.

While it is not illegal, per se, to summon an undead to follow you around, it is generally frowned upon by the "good guys". So while you may not get arrested, you may still find some "hostility" to your choice of travelling companion.
One note of interest: Graverobbing is illegal in Cormyr, so unearthing your "companion" from a graveyard *would* be illegal. (And can get you arrested if the good guys can prove you did this.) As far as "legally" obtaining "spell compnents.....it would be advised that it be roleplayed with a DM acquiring such from an execution, "organ donor", etc and so forth. However, there would be no need of DM intervention, if say you happen on a pile of bones in the wilderness...and animate them to serve your purpose. (Which, for legality sake, is perfectly legal since it isn't technically graverobbing.)
