I have a low level character with more skill points than skills that I want to spend them on....so I figured on learning a new language or two. To my dismay, I can't seem to find a way to do it. Is this possible? I have 2 unused skill points which, according to the D&D Players Handbook 3.5, is enough to gain one new language. To reiterate, is there a way I can learn extra languages after first level by spending skill points?

Languages will not be awarded in this fashion as there is no way for DMs to determine if you have truly set aside those skills points and never use them.
The only way to gain new languages after entering cormyr is by raising your intelligence modifier along with DM recognised RP of being taught a language.
It is not illegal, but it is frowned upon, to carry skill points over from level to level.

Sorry, but no. Check out this thread here: frc.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=freqaskquestion&action=display&thread=1172785650If you want to learn more languages then you need to put your ability points into Intelligence in order to get another modifier point. There is no "Language" skill modifier and we would have no way mechanics wise to reflect that because of the core way Bioware made NWN. So you'll need to spend those points on something else.

My character has an Intelligence of 13. So if I added one more point into my Intelligence score, I could then learn another language?

Yes, a 14 Intelligence would give you a +2 modifier so you'd be able to learn another language. Mind, you do have to RP your character taking the time to learn the new language.

Hey, RPing is why I'm on this server *winks* Do I need to get a DM to observe the "learning" process? Can I learn the language from anyone who knows it or from a member of the specific race? How will I receive the language widget once the DM decides I've learned enough?
Sorry to ask so many blasted questions, I'm just anxious to learn...

A DM must be aware that you are trying to learn a language. In fact, the only way you will receive the new language is by a DM rewarding it to you (it just appears in your inventory when a DM gives it to you). So long as another player is fluent in the language, they can teach you. What I mean by this is that some players play that even though they have the language their character only understands bits and pieces of the language.
