I am wondering if this area of the forum, and it being DM so restrictive is truly necessary? I don't mean this with any disrespect, but one the things I have always loved about FRC is the open exchange of ideas, thought, and opinions on all the various topics. I feel that this format restricts that. I understand the need for clear answers from DM's but I do miss the discussions.
So is this really necessary?

Open discussions are still encouraged and there are plenty of available boards to conduct those discussions.
This area is for players to be able to post questions specifically to the DM's to get answers specifically from the DM's.
Concern is noted for sure.
But I see this as an additional means for players to speak and pose questions and communicate directly to the staff...which in my mind is a good thing.

I agree it is a good thing, but very often another players question will trigger my own questions. Should I then start a new thread with my question? Plus I have noted a few discussions I would have liked to have taken part in were moved here from other threads.

Maybe we should limit it to no player responses until a DM has a chance to answer and no frivolous posts. Perhaps questions from other players should be allowed on the same topic, but what we are trying to avoid is confusion... the DM's say "this", another five players say "that", the player who asked has no idea what the real answer is.
Trust me, it was only to insure the integrity of the question and answer process. Your concern is noted, and perhaps we can come to a happy compromise. The intention is not to exclude players from the discussion, but it is a DM Q&A thread afterall.

Surely nothing is so set in stone that it cannot be 'fine tuned' until the process is working. But for now, yeah....if a Question or even an Answer has spurred another question for you - feel free to start a thread with your question(s). And....yeah...what the big boss said Integrity!!! If each question has it's own thread, it may be easier to prevent folks repeatedly asking the same questions...if there are many and multiple questions and players interjecting in the same thread, eh....you know what I mean....muddies the water... My 'thought' and hope is that eventually a newer player will be able to take a quick read through the DM Q&A and have a good many answers to their own initial questions...it surely isn't intended to negate the spirit of community discussion.

I'd say take the same question and post it in the general topics section for a "community" discussion.
