Hi FRC team,
Just looking to clarify the mulling/twinking rules and crafted items on the forums. I have a couple of low levels characters that are capable of crafting wands, potions etc. These characters occasionally sell these items (with a markup) to other players characters.
So far so good, however one of my main characters noticed these characters using some of them and would like to buy, even at a higher price than what was paid given they can’t find any crafters that do them IC.
The players that purchased these crafted items are worried about selling these on and running foul of the rules.
The spirit of the rules (quite rightly so) is to prevent high level characters giving their alts or friends items for free or below market value. Everything in the scenario I described above is done through proper role play and done with a markup, so I don’t think this would cause any issues but wanted to clarify.
Thanks

Hello Sin, Thank you for asking and I'll be happy to help with this. To put it simply, mains and alts should remain completely separate and independent of each other and despite our heavy emphasis on roleplay, players must always adhere to the server rules. Roleplay that leads to a rule violation would still be a rule violation. We've seen some players try the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" in an attempt to circumvent the twinking rule but regardless of how many times the object changes hands, if it eventually ends up back in your own it would violate rule 9. I can understand the challenge of finding a crafter but there are many who post up their signs in Greatgaunt to offer their services. There are also RP threads for just about every town on FRC so in the absence of that players can also post IC messages/notices in the RP threads such as "A note is left on the Notice Board: Looking for an enchanter to create a magic device of awesomeness. Seek out Ugly PersonA normally found roaming around Greatgaunt" <--or something along those lines. Another player who may not have been immediately online as their crafter then has the opportunity to reply back "Super enchantress of the Overgod will aid you in your request. Meet at the Inn at the top of the next tenday" as an example. Thanks again for the question; I hope that answers your concern. Let us know if any further clarification is needed.

Hi Flash,
Thanks for taking the time to clarify. Might be worth tweaking the wording for that rule to remove the ambiguity around that - I read it a little differently so good thing I asked 🙂
Cheers,
Sin
