I'm sorry but it's really hard to take the game seriously when every single weapon looks like it was drawn by some dude alone 30 years ago. Random vendor trash is one thing, but all of them?

Hello OJ
I’m unsure as to the reasoning / goal of this post?
Did you just wish to vent or are you proposing something?

The new default weapon looks are inferior to the originals, but you can always change the appearances to the cool ones.

I really love the new "default" weapon appearances added by the CEP reforged on the last update. Finally weapons other than blades are getting some love, look at the new crossbows, and the horrible things that are on default NWN, not quite the same thing. Also, when you have been playing the game for 20 years, anything new is a real breath of fresh air.

I have mixed feelings about the new models. I think some are a positive: the variety for non bladed weapons is good to see on FRC. On the other hand, every single ammunition icon I've seen is a clear step down unfortunately From a UX design perspective it was also a little jarring to have a bunch of existing item appearances change on login. For example, I struggle to find the right rings now that so many look different But I actually do like the new ring icons! I would recommend adding new icons/models/etc as new choices instead of replacing existing ones in general to reduce confusion for players, dms, etc. That's a more standard approach for servers now that there's no need to DL haks individually anymore & thus no (player) barrier to changing those 2das.

Just as a note, the Green Light Gem now has the appearance of a tooth. Not quite sure how that came about but interesting change

I have mixed feelings about the new models. I think some are a positive: the variety for non bladed weapons is good to see on FRC. On the other hand, every single ammunition icon I've seen is a clear step down unfortunately I kind of like the new inventory appearances for the weapons and don't really mind that change at all. I 100% agree about the ammunition though. The arrows, and especially the bolts, look kind of like rough drawings done by someone who had an arrow or bolt described to them once. I don't actually have an issue with the change to how bullets look (because I don't even remember how they look), and I do like the new shuriken appearance. (Shuriken live in the in-between land where they're a weapon and also sort of ammunition.) The arrows and bolts though, I feel that downgrade. The old arrow and bolt images had some shading to them. (I think they were hand-drawn, whereas I think the new ones are pictures of a 3D render, but the pictures didn't turn out well.) Also, why are the bolts both fatter and taller than the arrows? Fatter I could understand, but taller? Aside from the size difference, they're kind of hard to distinguish. But yeah, other than the arrows & bolts, the new looks seem pretty cool to me. I like the new holy water, and the more vibrantly colored trap components too, like the new look for tanglefoot bags.

Some items had their looks and icons altered for some reason, same for weapon visual effect colors.

With regards to feedback, I love the new armours and shields available under the new options which can add some hitherto missed texture. Concerning the weapons however, I'm not personally a fan, I find them a bit too shiny and glitzy but lacking the texture of the originals. The brass/bronze colour option seems to be a bit of a garish orangey -copper, though I do like the tone of the gold.
I know in previous updates we have had the option of turning new visual effects off or on (for example how metallic armours are seen onscreen) - is it possible to do this with weaponry too?
