I wanted to touch base with the Administrative Team and develop the loose campaign I have planned and insure that I'm not violating any "hard rules" on the server. Being a Dungeon Master since 2e (and only buying the Eberron Sourcebook since I completed my 2e collection) I'm quite familiar with 2e's concepts and learned 3e's rules through NWN, NWN2, and DDO. My only serious online roleplaying adventures originally occurred in NWN2 and I observed bad patterns of behaviour then on the majority of those servers. No one's perfect (and I don't even concern myself with that), but trolling appears to reign strong online still and can cause issues as well. Being familiar with the Justice System has given me unique advantages at identifying such behaviour, but it's primary value has been to teach me how to "properly behave" (relating to conflicts of interest, coercion, corruption, etc.) as a player. Therefore, I assure you that my intentions are honorable ones in the following paragraphs.
I always have a plan (even if it fails) for my characters and they're all developed based on real world personalities that I've witnessed (for the most part). With that said, I've also begun developing some of my characters into groups that collectively represent my knowledge and what each character knows is dependent upon their skillset / role (this way I don't have to concern myself with implicit bias so much). I understand each character is supposed to be separate and individual (the "No Muling" rule for instance, which I don't agree with personally), but I see no problem with alluding to things to help a collective story along. I've got a few characters that I consider related to one another, but also understand that I'm not allowed to have one get involved in the other's affairs (i.e. Conflict of Interest). So I believe that I can manage them effectively.
At this time, I've "loosely planned" a petty campaign that gives a group of my characters a collective purpose and each one has a role to play in that purpose (but only one is the primary). The others are supplemental assets that will help the plot along, but have their own goals and ambitions. My intention is to push this agenda over the course of time (months most likely), until it eventually occurs in some form or another. I've no interest in preventing any other player's involvement or DM's, but it's a plan that allows me to create a story, plot, and campaign of sorts (the DM in me coming out lol) that gives multiple characters a purpose and role. I hope that this does not cause undue problems or issues, because I see no problems with it as I have it planned so far (but with trolls, anything's possible too).
Your thoughts and concerns with my idea?
Thanks!
